3 Recent Developments in the Fight for Gun Rights Across America

-

Being a law-abiding gun owner in a Biden-Dettelbach America is getting harder and harder by the day.

The difference between liberals and conservatives, federal government overreach and standing up for states' rights has never been clearer.

Let me walk you through a few notable developments in the political world surrounding guns and gun control that have happened over the past several months.

The Good:

A judge in Fort Worth, Texas, ruled this Thursday that state laws banning 18- to 20-year-olds from buying and carrying handguns were unconstitutional under the .

According to The Texas Tribune, “U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman wrote that the Second Amendment does not specify an age limit and protects adults under 21 years old. ‘Based on the Second Amendment's text, as informed by Founding-Era history and tradition, the Court concludes that the Second Amendment protects against this prohibition,'” Pittman wrote in the ruling.”

The significance of this ruling cannot be understated, as the gun control bill President Biden signed into law earlier this summer in the wake of the Uvalde tragedy also puts extra restrictions on would-be firearms owners between the ages of 18 and 21.

The Bad:

Earlier this summer, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of NYSRPA v. Bruen, which found New York state's “may issue” provisions for concealed carry permits to be an unconstitutional violation of Second Amendment rights. (RELATED: Supreme Court Reaffirms Second Amendment Rights In Latest Decision)

How did New York's gun-grabbing politicians react to the ruling? By calling a special legislative session to pass new regulations. The new minimum standards were released this week, and these regulations were clearly written by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Heritage Foundation legal fellow Amy Swearer wrote that the new minimum standards for concealed carry permit holders won't even ensure basic proficiency.

The Ugly

targets gun owner data in Missouri. In July, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informed Missouri attorney general — and 2022 Republican nominee for U.S. — Eric Schmitt that several FBI Agents “planned to visit several county sheriff's departments in August to audit concealed carry weapons permits.”

The Associated Press reported at the time that “Schmitt, who is a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, said a Missouri law prohibits sharing the confidential lists collected by sheriff departments with federal, state or private entities. He also contended allowing federal agents to access the permit records would violate the Second Amendment.

Schmitt said the concealed carry law passed when he was a state senator included the provision that only elected county sheriffs would have access to the permit records because lawmakers “wanted to leave no doubt that the citizens of Missouri have a right to bear , and the federal government has no business poking around to find out their identities.”

In a later statement, the Bureau called the audit “routine.”

So, what do you think about the state of gun rights in America? And do you think can use their support for the right to bear arms to portray as out of touch with must-win voter blocs, like Hispanic Americans?

  1. Stop the attacks on law abiding citizens, the laws that the left tries to impose ONLY impact law abiding people, the criminals and criminally insane have no respect for ANY LAW

  2. What the left is going to do is cause the second war for independence, that has been discussed for several years now, to actually start happening. The federal government is going to try and make their phony laws so they can control fire arms in this country. Disarm the citizens and the government can rule as they please. The people in this country better wake up to what the government is trying to do, and while we still have the ability to vote, is to vote to purge every democrat running for office, any office, and take back our government.
