Back the Blue? Conflicted Conservative Patriot Asks – Can We Trust the FBI?

-

ANALYSIS – As a lifelong conservative, patriot, Marine Corps officer who worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and as a D.C. Special Police Officer and decades-long private security contractor and military contractor — I have always ‘Backed the Blue.'

So, it pains me to ask this question.

But America's premier agency has made too many mistakes, appeared far too politicized and the question needs to be asked.

After the unprecedented raid on former President Trump's home, can we trust the ?

I will always back the vast majority of FBI field agents, some of whom I've worked with and know personally and even some of its leadership.

But ‘Backing the Blue' has its limits.

One limit is corrupt, abusive or overtly racist cops (or FBI agents). The other limit is when the organization as a whole appears corrupted.

And that's what we are discussing here. The FBI as an institution.

As Capital Research reports:

Five summers ago in August 2017, FBI counterintelligence agents were still working the last of four ill-gotten  spy warrants used to investigate former Trump campaign advisor . Then, earlier this month, the FBI counterintelligence team executed a search warrant on the home of former President Trump.

It took a full three years for the full story, with all the gory details we know so far, to come out about the FBI's wrongful harassment of the innocent Trump advisor on phony -collusion accusations.

And if the Carter Page FBI saga is any indicator, the FBI will need to provide far better justification for the historically unprecedented incursion into the home of a former president than it did for the Page witch hunt.

Even if former president did violate laws regarding presidential and historical record keeping and handling classified information, and it appears he did, raiding the home of an ex-president likely to run again in two years is unprecedented and highly political no matter the justification.

I must note here that as a former intelligence officer I am deeply disturbed by the mounds of apparently highly classified documents Trump appears to have stashed improperly, and likely illegally, in the basement of his Mar-a-Lago home.

This looks to include Top Secret Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) – some of our nation's most protected secrets.

None of this should have been taken by Trump, and likely endangered national security.

It reminds me of the loads of classified materials held by on her private email servers. However, in her case, she destroyed much of the incriminating evidence and her home was never raided by the Bureau.

So, it's not unreasonable to ask – why Trump but not Hillary?

But beyond that obvious, politically motivated double standard, we need to look at a bigger trend of FBI mistakes and wrongdoing in recent years.

And Capital Research provides several additional examples.

This includes the 2004 wrongful accusations against an Oregon lawyer, Brandon Mayfield, for alleged fingerprint ties to the Spanish train bombing that killed 200 and injured thousands.

“The skeptical Spanish later matched the fingerprints to the actual terrorist, and Mayfield won a $2 million lawsuit settlement at the expense of American taxpayers.”

Another example was the wrongful harassment of Steven Hatfill, a former bioweapons researcher from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRID).

The FBI falsely tied him to the anthrax-laced letters sent to federal politicians and reporters in September 2001.

After destroying his reputation for over seven years, in 2008 “he won a $4.6 million settlement from the American taxpayers over the ordeal. The would later send a letter fully exonerating him.”

However, notes Capital Research: “Addressing the anthrax investigation six weeks after news of Hatfill winning the $4.6 million, FBI Director Bob Mueller refused to admit to any wrongdoing or incompetence…”

I am unapologetic. I do not apologize for any aspect of the investigation that was undertaken over the years. And I think it was erroneous to say there were mistakes.

And then there was Richard Jewell, the security guard turned hero during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Jewell noticed the suspicious backpack containing the bomb and helped clear 75–100 people safely from the scene just before the explosion.

But the FBI wrongly hounded Jewell as their prime suspect, stripping him of his well-deserved hero status and turning him into a pariah.

Meanwhile, the real domestic terrorist responsible for the Olympic site bombing, Eric Rudolph, went on to set off other bombs, one killing a police officer.

“A Department of Justice memo later judged the Bureau's conduct toward Jewell to have been ‘a major error in judgement.'”

Rudolph eventually landed on the FBI's Most Wanted list but was not captured until seven years later, in 2003.

All the examples point to an FBI that has lost its way, is prone to incredibly damaging mistakes and has become far too politicized at its higher levels.

It may be time for a major reboot at the Bureau, including a thorough house cleaning at the top.

But before the FBI can do this and regain the trust of the concerned patriots such as myself, the leaders need to openly admit their mistakes.

Sadly, this appears to be something the current leaders are incapable of doing. ALN

  1. Obama and Hillary never turned over officials documents. Nothing happened to these traitors. The DOJ or FBI had already came to President Trump home why didn’t they take the documents then? Because its a frame up by Garland and Wray because they couldn’t get President Trump of any wrong doings. To back the blue? Our military sits on their lazy butts destroy our troops and putting woke idiots into the military. Joe Biden is a traitor. An idiot not voted into office but cheated. World rich elites families want to destroy God and morals. They want illegals in every country to destroy everyone cultures. You stupid people in America have no idea what is going as long you have your free loading hands out. Stupidity and communism roams America. You fools don’t care. You better believe there is a war coming and Joe Biden is going to start it. Republicans are too big of cowards to do anything about it.

  2. Feel your pain. But as an Army Veteran with assignments in the DIA collaborating with the FBI (1979-1982) I don’t trust these FBI agents–top to bottom. They have violated their oath. I would not give them the time of day for fear of a “process crime.” Fire the lot from top to bottom: DOJ and FBI.

  3. “I must note here that as a former intelligence officer I am deeply disturbed by the mounds of apparently highly classified documents Trump appears to have stashed improperly, and likely illegally, in the basement of his Mar-a-Lago home.”
Has this been proven or just something someone said?

  4. Anyone who still trusts the FBI to do the right thing is a fool. They and the Justice Department are corrupt enablers of criminal Democrats. I would be embarrassed to be an FBI agent although I was an agent for a different agency for 30 years and was proud of my service. If I were an FBI agent I’d be looking for a transfer to a different agency such as the U.S. Marshalls or Secret Service. Even the IRS would be tempting at this point.

  5. This is how the left is saying Republicans want to defund the police because we have questions about what they are doing to protect The People from the FBI because they are not working for the People they are working for the left and will do absolutely everything to keep us from not becoming a police state. They should be criminally charged for what they have done to this country. This is not China. Or Russia. They like that word a lot. Russia, Russia, Russia.

  6. The FBI has been made just another arm of the left wing democrats. That’s just one more sign of a pending socialist attempted takeover of our government, that along with the building of an army of armed IRS agents to try and keep the people controlled. Speaking out against your opposing political party, telling the citizens that they are a danger to your country is another move at further dividing this country. It really seems like the left wants this country to get to another civil and second war for independence so they can use the military to crush anyone that doesn’t agree and follow their directives. This country is a powder keg waiting to explode, and when it does the United States of America will cease to exist.

  7. Then FBI Director Bob Mueller stated, I am unapologetic. I do not apologize for any aspect of the investigation that was undertaken over the years. And I think it was erroneous to say there were mistakes.
My take on his statement is that since there were no mistakes it was all carried out with forethought and malice. The non mistakes were intentional acts!!!

  8. DOES THE FOLLOWING TRANACTION SEEM NORMAL TO YOU FOR A VICE PRESIDENT IN OFFICE MAKING MONEY OFF OF CHINA IN PAY TO PLAY? In August 2017, CEFC Infrastructure Investment LLC sent Hunter Biden’s law firm, Owasco, $100.000. Four days later, the firm wired $5 million to another entity controlled by Ye, which then started sending regular payment to Owasco. Biden then transferred $1.4 million of that money to a firm called Lion Hall Group, which was controlled by his uncle James Biden and his wife, Sara Biden.

  9. 60% of the Sheriffs’ offices in the USA have taken oaths/promised to not honor “sanctuary” rules which violate federal immigration law, to not enforce anti-gun laws which violate the 2nd Amendment, and to not use their police powers to shut down political demonstrations by conservative groups or to otherwise trammel on their 1st Amendment rights. To date, I’m aware of NO police dept. which has made a similar promise. Meanwhile, the FBI remains corrupt and lawless. For those reasons, I refuse to mindlessly “back the blue”, tho’ the various Sheriff offices have my full support. WHen the police are willing to stand at my side, they too will find me standing beside and behind them.

  10. I spent a portion of my adult life as “the blue” & I do NOT consider the current day FBI organization as part of “the blue”. They seem way too corrupt!

  11. The left understood long ago that to take America you have to take it from the top because we like to follow. And we are still in denial because it’s very uncomfortable.

    • And one more rude awakening. There’s enough phentinol being smuggled into America to kill almost every man woman and child. Only thing missing is a terrorist and mix with drinking water….
