New Poll Finds Democrats Think Their Party is Too Pro-Abortion

-

In its first survey since the overturned , a prominent annual poll on finds that not only do Americans overwhelmingly express pro-life views, even large majorities of Democrats oppose their party's position.

A January 2023 Marist Poll, conducted for the Knights of Columbus, finds 44 percent of Americans believe abortion should either be banned entirely or only be allowed in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother, which is generally accepted as a pro-life position.

Additionally, 79 percent of Americans oppose unrestricted abortion on demand, the stated position of the Democrat Party, virtually unchanged since the landmark June 2022 position.

What's striking is even Democrats agree their party's gone too far on abortion.

Even among Democrats, only 32 percent believe “abortion should be available to a woman any time she wants one during her entire pregnancy,” their party's stated position.

In all, 69 percent of Americans believe abortion should be prohibited after three months of pregnancy or banned entirely. Even half of Democrats, 49 percent, believe abortion should only be legal after three months, if at all.

The poll also found 89 percent of Democrats support “pregnancy resource centers which are places that do not perform abortions but instead offer support to people during their pregnancy and after the baby is born?”

That's in line with the 91 percent of all Americans who support pregnancy resource centers. Despite that, Democrat lawmakers are working to outlaw or restrict them.

Sixty-three (63) percent of Democrats and 77 percent of all Americans agree “doctors, nurses, or other care professionals who have religious objections to abortion should or should not be legally required to perform abortions,” a constitutionally-protected right Democrat lawmakers seek to strip away.

The poll of 1,025 adults was conducted from January 6th through January 9th, 2023, by the Marist Poll, sponsored in partnership with the Knights of Columbus.

  1. I’m a Republican/Christian, and after years of having to face this issue, I’ve come the conclusion that I could not abort a baby, but that there are valid reasons to have one but I’m not to judge those decisions. If someone gets an abortion, I don’t have the right or authority to fault them, and they will someday stand in front of “The Judge” and he will make the final decision. However, when you talk about late term and after birth abortions, I can’t accept “murder” of a baby that could have lived. Most of my Democratic friends are either Pro-Life or have feelings similar to mine. I wish the Democrats would back off their over zelous beliefs. One woman interviewed had had 12 abortions and I even hear one Democrat talking about having the ability to abort (kill) a child up to age 2 years old. Seems like everytime a new thought emerges, some idiot has to “one up” everyone with a wilder and more idiot idea. Life is full of choices, try to make the right ones.
