-

ALERT – Federal authorities are investigating what caused a private plane to fly hundreds of miles off its flight path – and be intercepted by fighters over the nation's capital – before it crashed in rural , killing all four people on board.

The F-16s went supersonic as they raced to intercept the wayward and unresponsive plane, causing a loud sonic boom heard widely.

The dead included , a top New York realtor, and her 2-year-old daughter, Aria, her nanny and the pilot.

Azarian was the adopted daughter of Trump mega-donors John and Barbara Rumpel.

The plane, a Cessna 560 Citation V, crossed restricted airspace over Washington, D.C., before plummeting in Virginia.

It is not certain why the plane veered off course, but the loss of cabin pressure – which could render the pilot and passengers unconscious – is a possibility.

“They all just would have gone to sleep and never woke up,” Rumpel said, explaining the family was returning home from a visit to his own estate in North Carolina. They were returning to their home in East Hampton, reported the Mirror.

Fighter pilots who attempted to intercept the plane flying in restricted airspace over Washington reported seeing its pilot slumped over and unresponsive.

The private jet reportedly then suffered a horrific rapid spiraling descent, dropping at a rate of more than 30,000 feet per minute before crashing.

, the millionaire owner of Encore Motors of Melbourne, and his wife Barbara, an executive with the National Rifle Association, have been big donors to the , conservative causes as well as campaigns and operations.

Rumpel's Florida-based company owns the aircraft involved in the crash. An investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is ongoing.

My deepest condolences to the Rumpel family and may the four lost souls RIP.
