These could be some of the most radical ideas pushed by the left yet.
Some incoming Congressional Democrats have some big ideas in the name of equity- abolishing prisons.
While Democrats (thankfully) lost control of Congress some of the radical figures joining the ranks could be cause for concern.
Rep.-elect Summer Lee (D- Pa) a self-proclaimed Democrat Socialist, is taking over the district of longtime Democrat Rep. Mike Doyle in Washington and has repeatedly made the call for “reparations,” including abolishing the prison system.
Fox News has compared Rep.-elect Lee's ideas to Democrat darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Ny.)
“Instead of ‘thanking' Black women, Black voters, and especially, Black organizers… give us the investments we need and deserve, redistribute wealth, ends police violence, abolish the carceral state, commit to building Black directed political power… and reparations,” Lee tweeted in November 2020.
Incoming Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost, who endorsed the anti-police and anti-prison group Dream Defenders in 2020, is also expected to make some radical proposals in Congress.
Frost's endorsement of Dream Defenders included a call “for a prison [and] police free society.” He also endorsed other far-left groups including the radical environmental group, the Sunrise Movement.
Both incoming Democrats have been endorsed by radical lawmakers like Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)
Democrats have seen a distinct uptick in progressive and Socialist members over the past years as the party continues its dangerous shift left.
