ANALYSIS – On Friday I wrote about whether former President Trump wanted to lead an armed mob to the Capitol on Jan. 6 as some of the media have claimed based on the explosive testimony of former Trump chief of staff aide Cassidy Hutchinson.
My conclusions on that question can be read here.
Since then, much of the media attention has shifted to the claim that Trump lunged at the steering wheel of his presidential vehicle and attacked one of his Secret Service agents when they refused to take him to the Capitol for security reasons.
I noted that Trump reportedly screamed at his agents: I'm the f*cking president, take me up to the Capitol now.”
I also wrote that if true, this was “Not very presidential, but I can understand Trump being furious.”
Hutchinson made that assertion based on comments reportedly made to her from an agent who also served as Donald Trump's deputy chief of staff, Anthony Ornato.
The Washington Post reported that: “Hutchinson said Ornato described Trump as being “irate” at not being able to go to the Capitol. She said Ornato said Trump grabbed at the steering wheel and lunged at another agent.”
The Post adds that:
Anonymous sources close to Ornato initially said he denies that scene happened. When it was noted that Hutchinson had merely relayed what Ornato allegedly told her — rather than saying she witnessed it herself — they clarified that he denies he told her such a thing, too.
Whether Ornato contradicts Hutchinson under oath is yet to be determined. It is also irrelevant to the question – Could Trump have done it?
Many Trump supporters quickly argued on social media that he could not while posting photos of ‘the Beast,' Trump's presidential armored limousine to show how it's virtually impossible to do what is claimed he did.
The problem is Trump wasn't in that ‘Beast' on January 6.
He was in this one, the SUV:
As Forbes notes in a piece about Trump's ride in this SUV when returning from the hospital during his bout with COVID in Oct. 2020, this isn't the official Cadillac presidential limousine dubbed “the beast.” Instead:
…he rode in one of the heavily modified Chevrolet Suburban SUVs that are typically part of the president's motorcade. Most likely it was a Secret Service unit or perhaps what is used as a lead vehicle. It probably isn't equipped with the official limo's 007-esque armaments that reportedly include smoke screens, oil slicks, pump-action shotgun, and a tear gas cannon, but it is heavily modified with, among other enhancements, extra-thick doors and windows designed to withstand armor piercing bullets.
Forbes adds:
…the SUV he rode in was smaller inside than the much longer presidential limousine, which places him in closer quarters to other occupants…
So yes, Trump could definitely have been able to lunge at the steering wheel and an agent in the front seat.
Whether this actually happened, and how he did it, is up for grabs. But these video clips show some entertaining possibilities.

Yes, Definitely. He was NOT in the “Beast” the presidential armored limousine. He was in the SUV that did NOT have all the gear between the passenger and the driver. As anger as Trump was, it is quite possible and possible that he could and probability have reached the staring wheel.

And just what do you suppose that bully Biden would do if his driver told him, “No!” Would he just turn around, cross his arms and pout about it, all the way back to the White House? If I were president, the SS would for sure do what I said or they wouldn’t have that detail. So is the president the commander in chief or can anyone under his command do whatever they want? These guys would have us believe that after almost 4 years, Trump couldn’t get his driver to follow his orders. Does that make sense? Then at that same moment exhibit an act of un-coolness that has not been seen before from him. However, Biden loses his cool on a regular basis, raises his voice, puts his finger in peoples faces and psychotically whispers braggadocios into the microphone at the podium. Maybe the Jan6 committee should look into Biden, just for aiding the commie coup in Washington.
First of all, President Trump has more class than to try to commandeer his suv. And—- there is always a third agent in the back with him. What about him? He isn’t mentioned. The Hutchinson “ story” is too far fetched to be accurate, and—— “ SHE WASN’T THERE!” Hearsay is NOT admissible evidence! Another Piglosi “ railroad job”, that old drunken hag just never stops!
