‘Enough’s Enough’: Detroit Police Fed Up With Criminal Justice System’s Revolving Door

-

A 14-year-old driver of a stolen pickup truck led police on a chase through Wayne County Thursday night, prompting a police official to demand an end to the rapid release of offenders.

The suspect in question was out on an $800 bond after previously shooting his girlfriend, Fox 2 reported. Police had reportedly initiated a traffic stop for improper plates, and the suspect and three passengers fled. A passenger in the truck fired shots at police three separate times throughout the chase. (RELATED: Why Criminals Aren't Stopping for Washington State Troopers – ‘Defund the Police')

“Enough's enough. We got to do something with the back end of our system,” said Detroit Deputy Chief Charles Fitzgerald. “We can't keep locking up people that are a danger to our community and citizens and then two nights later we're back involved here.”

Fitzgerald's call to action also follows the recent shooting death of a Detroit police officer by a suspect with prior history, according to the Daily Caller. Police Officer Loren Courts was shot and killed by an armed suspect when Courts and his partner responded to a July 6 call of indiscriminate shots fired on the city's west side.

Courts' killer, 19-year-old Ehmani Davis, had multiple previous run-ins with the law, WXYZ Detroit reported. Davis was under investigation for allegedly shooting at an Eastpointe party the month before, but the prosecutor's office had not yet authorized a police request for charges by the time Officer Courts was shot and killed, according to Fox 2. At a press conference addressing the shooting death of Officer Courts, Detroit Police Chief James White cited low bonds as a reason for “senseless shootings.” (RELATED: Democrat Anti-Police Louisville Mayor Violently Assaulted)

The failure to keep criminals behind bars is not unique to Detroit, however. Incidents like those mentioned above are endemic nationwide. An off-duty Monterey Park officer was shot and killed in an attempted robbery on August 8, according to ABC 7. Carlos Daniel Delcid allegedly shot 26-year-old Gardiel Solorio five times in his car outside of a gym in Downey, , the Daily Mail reported. (RELATED: 100 Georgia Sheriffs Slam Democrat Gov. Candidate Stacy Abrams Over ‘Defund the Police')

Court documents show Delcid had been arrested at least three times on felony charges in the last 8 months, ABC 7 said. The 20-year-old alleged gunman was previously arrested on December 8 and released the following day. He was arrested again on January 7 only to be released four days later. Most notably, Delcid was arrested yet again in February and convicted on two counts of domestic violence against his girlfriend with a sentence of 180 days in jail and four years of probation. He was released the next day.

New York City also provides a case study for the “revolving door” in the criminal justice system. Approximately 90% of those arrested in the Big Apple on gun charges are back on the street, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said last year. “What we're seeing is a revolving door, or maybe you can just say an open door, where 90 percent roughly of the people that we've arrested for guns are out on the street, whether they're awaiting a disposition of their court case or they're not prosecuted.” Shea added that New York is host to a criminal justice system that is “not worried enough about the victims of and is a little out of balance.”

  1. Thank the unamerican governors and mayors who are getting paid by the top nazi in America, Soros! Michigan governor is still on Soros’s payroll. Corruption at the highest from Biden down to the mayors. You voters keep voting for these unamerican unmoral deep state traitors every time. The democrats don’t care about the American people. They are for power, money and complete control over your lives. Are you really that stupid?

    • 100%right vote these DA’s Governors and mayors out of office ! Do your homework when voting for the people .

    • From what I can tell, a lot of blue states and cities do not have honest elections. All anyone has to do is look at the gerrymandering in those states. My state, Illinois is a prime example. The redistricting of Chicago without any input from its citizens is sickening and guarantees that democrats are elected every time. And it isn’t just mayors, it is also city aldermen, judges, DAs, state representatives and others. The citizens of Illinois have not had an honest election in my lifetime and I’m over sixty. No one is interested in cleaning up the system that put them into office. Go figure…

    • You really believe people are voting for the left? Haven’t you heard of DOMINION voting machine company? They are in all 50 states. Good old Uncle Joe Stalin said, “I care not who votes, I care who COUNTS the votes!” Demand paper ballots if you feel you must vote! There is zero need for an immediate computer tally. There is PLENTY of time between election day and when people actually assume office. How many times have you cursed at your computer?

Of course the best way would be the Biblical process and remove people from the FOOLISH process of allowing MORONS voting in ANY evildoers. Lesser or greater .

  2. I live in Houston and it’s the same here for the same reason: the left are backed by Soros: judges or the ones who support them, mayors, city attorneys office, etc. The crime rate here in Houston is as bad as Chicago, and excuse given is because cases are so backed up (due to the Dems pandemic), that there can’t be a trial any time soon (like years) which is unfair and I guess unconstitutional, so the criminals are protected, and we are at their mercy! And yet these same people keep getting elected, but then again, we can’t even trust election results anymore. If this isn’t stopped soon, this country is doomed, and old man Soros will be dead! What a pig!

  3. This would never occur under a biblical government of, by, and for God expressly established upon His triune moral law (the Ten Commandments and their respective statutes, and civil judgments).

There are no repeat offenders who have been convicted of capital crimes under the Bible’s judicial system. Convicted capital criminals are put to death immediately following conviction, per Ecclesiastes 8:11, etc.

Non-capital criminals are required to pay two to five times restitution (depending upon the nature of their crime) to their *victims,* per Exodus 22:1-4, etc. If a thief is unable to pay the required restitution, he’s to be sold into indentured servitude until his debt is paid.

If he refuses to pay restitution, his contempt of court becomes a capital crime per Deuteronomy 17:9-13, for which he’s to be put to death expeditiously. Unless a thief has a death wish, he’ll pay restitution.

Perfect, just as King David depicted it in Psalm 19:7-11.

Under such as system, crime would be all but unheard of, and there would no need for tax-paid-for prisons, from which criminals are typically put back on the streets to continue their crime sprees.

    • I whole heartedly agree with Mr. Weiland on his analysis for the need to use the Criminal Justice system as outlined in the Bible immediately. We must replace our failed statist humanist system. Until such a national biblical law reformation happens, this relativism justice that plagues our nation. This corruption effects all of society. No political party has a messianic solution. It took a couple of centuries for Rome to fall.
