CIR was founded by U.K. citizen Adam Rutland and dual U.K.-U.S. national Ross Burley, the organization says it conducts research, digital investigations, strategic communications, building the capacity of local partners, and collaborating with to “amplify the impact” of its work.

According to documents obtained by Fox News, Jankowicz's new role will largely entail supervising research, executing strategy, overseeing the establishment of CIR's research, communicating with the media, and briefing individuals and officials about the organization's research.

Earlier this year President Biden appointed Jankowicz to the Department of Homeland Security's shortlived Disinformation Governance Board.

In addition to public outcry over the proposed disinformation panel's eery similarity to 1984‘s Ministry of Truth. Jankowicz also faced heightened scrutiny over her inability to carry out her duties impartially after multiple past social media posts spreading misinformation were uncovered.

The Disinformation Governance Board was shuttered over the summer following instructions from an advisory board.
