Judge Sets Trial Date in $250M Lawsuit Against Donald Trump and His Children

-

The trial date has been set for next October for a civil fraud case involving America's 45th President and his eldest children.

Judge Arthur Engoron has set for the trial to start on October 2nd, 2023.

As reported by CNN:

“[Engoron] said he is “aiming” to start the trial then but said if any parties run into any issue they could let him know. Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump and the company, told the judge, “My clients, they will be here. All of them.”

The attorneys sparred over the trial date with Trump attorneys arguing they need more time to go through the depositions of several dozen witnesses taken by the attorney general's office. Clifford Robert, an attorney for and , called the case “smoke and mirrors.”

Former President Trump recently announced that he would once again seek the presidency in 2024.

The October 2023 trial date is 13 months before the but well into the start of the presidential primary season.

When Attorney General Letitia James filed the $250 million civil fraud case against the Trumps in September, she said the following:

“With the help of his children and senior executives at the , Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and cheat the system. In fact, the very foundation of his purported net worth is rooted in incredible fraud and illegality. Mr. Trump thought he could get away with the art of the steal, but today, that conduct ends. There are not two sets of laws for people in this country; we must hold former presidents to the same standards as everyday Americans. I will continue to ensure that no one is able to evade the law, because no one is above it.”

American Liberty News previously reported on New York Attorney General ' filed a civil fraud lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and three of his children: Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric, alleging .

The move by James' office comes on the heels of a years-long civil investigation into the Trump family's real estate , the Trump Organization. The investigation has centered on whether the former president's company misled investors and tax authorities by inflating property values to get investments and subsequently deflating them to get tax and loan benefits.

The defendants also include the Trump Organization, other Trump-affiliated businesses and two longtime executives, ex-Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg and Weisselberg's right-hand man, Jeff McConney.

The New York AG's lawsuit comes after she rejected an offer from the former president's legal team to settle the civil investigation into his business.

If the case goes to trial and Trump loses, a judge could potentially impose financial penalties and restrict the former president's business operations in New York — all potentially in the midst of a 2024 presidential campaign that he is expected to join.

It is possible that James, as part of her lawsuit, could seek to curtail Trump's Manhattan real estate portfolio, though she has given mixed signals publicly about what sort of punishment she will seek to impose.

Trump has long dismissed the investigation as a “phony years-long crusade” against him and criticized James for the inquiry.

  1. This is beyond the beyond how much wasted hate, money and time that our democrats deliberately waste!! This is NOT AMERICA ANYMORE!! SINCE 2016!!!!! …with all the dirt the democrats have accumulated and with media and Hollywood covering their arses, allowing them to keep degrading the rest of us out of HATE!! THIS IS DEMOCRACY, DEMOCRAT STYLE! It’s not longer the swamp, it’s the CESSPOOL!!

    • Except they are misleading everyone. We are not a democracy, we are a Republic, which is better. I wish they would shut.up with the democracy B.S., they are redefining our governmental system.

  2. I sure hope the Trumps sue the hell out of that Ms James she deserves to go to prison for these false charges. America is sick and tired of the witch hunt !!! You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to ever vote demoRAT again. They are evil hate filled people.

  3. I view this lawsuit as a witch hunt conducted in hopes of disqualifying Mr. Trump from running again for office. Follow the money and you will find Deep State corruption, its initiators and its beneficiaries, and they will NOT be the Trumps.

  4. and with this, then it should be FRAUD when the counties assess the fake inflated values of property so that they can inflate our property taxes too.
rules and laws for thee, but none for the commie democrat pedophile racist woke cult party government.

  5. AG Letitia James nothing but a POS liberal termite. They won’t stop at anything to keep President Trump from running for President again. The liberals have wasted more time and money on these witch hunts and they get nowhere.
