Democrat Congresswoman Angie Craig (Minn.) is changing her tune after becoming a victim of soaring crime in U.S. cities.
Craig, who has been a staunch defender of the controversial “Defund the Police” movement in the past has recently made repeated calls for a stronger law enforcement policy after the attack.
“I got attacked by someone who the District of Columbia has not prosecuted fully over the course of almost a decade, over the course of 12 assaults before mine that morning,” Craig told CBS News.
“And so I think we have to think about how in the world we can make sure that we're not just letting criminals out,” she added.
Craig emphasized that repeat offenders are not always deterred by short sentences and punishments.
“I mean, it wasn't even in every instance that he got 10 days or 30 days. Many times, the charges were completely dropped before any justice was achieved at all,” she said.
“If you throw somebody in jail for 10 days and think, ‘There's your punishment, and we're gonna let you right back on the street,' what the hell do you think's gonna happen?” Craig asked.
Craig's distinct change in messaging comes after the Democrat lawmaker's top campaign staffer Liz Young made repeated remarks against police officers, even promoting the destruction of property.
In 2020, Young responded to news about deaths related to police in New York with four words: “Burn. It. All. Down.”
According to Fox News, Young also claimed in June 2020 that cities should “fund counselors, not cops,” and has also promoted the Minnesota Freedom Fund, a far-left group that supports the defunding of the police.
Last week, Rep. Craig was allegedly assaulted in the elevator of her Washington, D.C. residence by a 26-year-old man named Kendrid Hamlin

The assault, which occurred in the building's elevator around 7:15 a.m., left her bruised, according to a statement by Rep. Craig's chief of staff, Nick Coe.
“Rep. Craig defended herself from the attacker and suffered bruising, but is otherwise physically okay,” Coe said in a release, noting that “there is no evidence that the incident was politically motivated.”
The lawmaker called 911 and the assailant fled.

Yeah, that’s the way these “defund the police” socialist democrats are. THEY deserve better protection, THEY demand criminals be put in jail for crimes against THEM but the rest of the citizenry that’s less deserving and less important in their elitist minds aren’t worthy of having the protection of “law and order.” We lowly peasants must fight off the wolves ourselves but THEY deserve so much more for attempting to strip us of our rights and subjugate us to the rule of tyranny by “Buffoon Joe Bidet” and his ilk.

Ms. Craig should rethink who she has on her campaign staff. This Liz Young is a detriment to her and to all.
How stupid can anyone be who can’t see the forest through the trees! What did she think would happen when the ‘defund the police’ movement got started? Did she just think that it would always be someone else that would pay the price for her illogical views? Sadly this movement has ruined thousands of lives by turning predators back into society to continue satisfying their needs and urges. Why doe she think that ‘the squad’ spends hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money on personal security? Why does Lori Lightfoot have about 100 officers in her security staff? Democrats don’t (or can’t) think ahead about the unintentional consequences of their actions. These are not the type of people we need in OUR government!
