Meta to Reinstate Trump’s Facebook and Instagram Accounts

-

parent company says it will restore 's Facebook and accounts after a two-year ban.

The decision by the social giant comes more than two years after the riot at the U.S. Capitol by supporters of the outgoing president.

The Washington Times explains:

In a statement reported by multiple news outlets, Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta, said the former president's accounts will return with “new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”

According to Mr, Clegg's statement, those guardrails will include “heightened penalties for repeat offenses — penalties which will apply to other public figures whose accounts are reinstated from suspensions related to civil unrest under our updated protocol.”

Mr. Trump was suspended shortly over two years ago over his Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, for which Mr. Trump was blamed.

“In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation,” Mr. Clegg said.

Trump's access will be reinstated in the coming weeks.

Many Democrats were highly critical of the decision, with Rep. Adam Schiff tweeting that the former president was undeserving of having such a vast social media platform after he “tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power” and displaying “no remorse” or “contrition.”

The decision will also allow Trump to raise money off of Facebook and Instagram, which Trump relied heavily on to augment his fundraising and list-building operations.

Despite being inactive for over two years, Trump's Facebook page has 32 million fans. On Instagram, the 45th president has 23 million followers.

“We've always believed Americans should be able to hear from the people who want to lead the country, Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta, told Axios. “We don't want to stand in the way of that.”

  1. Meta to Reinstate Trump’s Facebook and Instagram Accounts”.

    Yeah, with strings attached.

Do they think Trump is a fool? Trump oughta’ thank them, flip ’em the bird, and continue to thank them by posting NOTHING on their woke sites.

  2. You need Trump, he doesn’t need you. Anyone with a lick of common sense knows that. Nephlim Zuckerberg trying to sound so benevolent and throwing crumbs to Trump when your the anchor sinking fast and he’s the floating life vest. LOL

  3. I don’t really care if Meta reinstated Trump. I discontinued viewing those websites and also Twitter in January 2021, and never looked back.
