Another Pro-Impeachment Republican Appears to Have Been Ousted

-

It took nearly a week to obtain the primary election results in 's 3rd Congressional District, but the results may have finally been revealed.

Another pro- Republican appears to have been ousted.

Congresswoman came in third place, her Republican primary challenger came second, and Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez placed first in the open primary, conducted entirely by mail-in ballots.

Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report called the race just after 8:00 p.m. last night.

Kent's campaign tweeted that their team was “feeling very strong” but also encouraged supporters to “cure their ballot” – a process to confirm that the vote was accepted.

Herrera Beutler has not yet conceded the race, and her campaign Twitter account has not tweeted anything since July 20th, nearly three weeks ago and over two weeks before election day.

As noted by local news outlet OPB:

“Kent's comeback didn't come in a rush, but rather percolated over days. Though he trailed on election night, there had been more than 70,000 ballots still to be counted, most of them in Clark County. In Washington, mailed ballots can be returned up until Election Day as long as they have a valid postmark. That law leads to results that can take several days to tally.

Clark (county) still has 10,000 more ballots to count, as of Monday.

A recount could occur even after all ballots are counted. Under Washington law, recounts are required if two candidates are split by less than 2,000 votes and 0.5% of the total votes cast.

Even if state law doesn't trigger a recount, processes are in place to allow people – candidates and non-candidates – to call for recounts.

Counties have until Aug. 16 to finish counting. Then, the results must be certified by local canvassing boards.”

Still, Dave Wasserman didn't hesitate to add Herrera Beutler to his list for pro-impeachment Republicans who have been defeated.

One of two Republicans who appear to have survived a primary challenge after voting for impeachment is Herrera Beutler's fellow Washingtonian Dan Newhouse.

– arguably the most vocal anti-Trump Republican – who is serving on the January 6th committee in , faces an uphill battle in her primary race set to be held next Tuesday, August 16th.

  1. I think we are at the precipice of wars; from foreign enemies and domestic civil war, the way things are unfolding right now. Foreign with China or Russia and domestic from millions of discontented patriotic Americans who so angry & frustrated to see our Republic’s LAWS being trashed by the powers that be. Pray hard America..

  2. Post office ballot FRAUD is why we no longer have a clear winner on election day.
    How?
Await totals. Post office Backdates ballots required for win. Then delivers those ballots while sorting and discarding conservative ballots.
