Border Security Leaders Denounce Lame Duck Immigration Reform Push

-

A coalition of conservative leaders and organizations concerned with released a letter to members of today, urging them to reject any immigration reform proposals that do not properly address border security.

In the letter, its signatories write that they expect immigration reform to be a key issue in the 118th congress. Its authors urge Members of Congress to hold off on making major reforms to America's immigration systems until the new Congress is sworn in, as many Americans went to the polls in November with this issue and others that it impacts – such as crime – at the top of their priority list of things that motivated them to go to the ballot box.

In the letter, the groups wrote the following:

“Do not allow special interests to take advantage of the lame-duck session to pass their
bankrupt immigration agenda and throw average Americans under the bus. The American people are, after all, the ultimate stakeholders in our immigration system. They have voiced their will and we urge you to respect it.”

Conservative immigration groups that signed onto the letter included the Federation for American Immigration Reform (), Numbers USA, and Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime.

Former Trump Administration heavy hitters who signed onto the letter include the following individuals:

, Former Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

, Former Acting Commissioner of

, Former Acting Director, of Immigration and Customs Enforcement

Ken Cuccinelli, Former Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

Notably, a number of the letter's signers also worked in the Obama administration.

The full letter – including the list of signatories – can be read below.

Congressional Republicans have made immigration an everpresent sticking point for the Biden Administration, even during their two years in the minority.

Beating the drum on the issue of immigration and calling out Team Biden's constant stream of border blunders finally appears to be paying off for Republicans.

The Biden administration's former  commissioner Chris Magnus was ousted last month, after he was told he had “lost the confidence” of his bosses.

Still, conservatives in the House including Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs and Texas Congressman have been pushing for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Roy has consistently called out Mayorkas for lying under oath to the American people about the true gravity of the situation on the Southern Border and ensuring that his team had full “operational control” in the region. GOP Minority leader has also signaled support for ousting Mayorkas.

  1. Get rid of the lying chump that is working against the American people to stop this illegal immigration walking across our borders. He has not been doing his job the whole time, only doing what his boss tells him to do and it is all wrong. The President didn’t have the right to change the Immigration laws. And his dummy in charge is a liar and been caught lying over and over again.
