Democrat Senate Hopeful Gives Biden the Cold Shoulder, Refuses to Invite Him on Campaign Trail

-

Democrats, even candidates, know that President Biden is political poison and are steering clear.

Tim Ryan, an Democrat running for , says that he's not inviting the Commander-in-Chief onto the campaign trail in hopes of seeing a boost in support.

“No, I'm not, and I'm really not inviting anybody,” the longtime congressman from Ohio and his state's Democratic Senate nominee tells Fox News.

Ryan has opted to steer his campaign away from focusing on radical issues like and defunding the police, a move which has proved successful for the Democrat so far in polls. He's facing off against best-selling author J.D. Vance who was endorsed by former president Trump.

The Democrat is fighting to win retiring GOP Sen. Rob Portman's seat and the race is expected to be one that will determine if Republicans successfully take back the upper chamber.

In a recent interview, Ryan highlighted multiple issue areas where he disagrees with the president's stance and course of action including student loans and the border.

“I've disagreed with Biden on the student loan. I've disagreed with Biden on a lot of other issues, Title 42 and these other issues, been very clear,” Ryan emphasized during a national exclusive interview Monday.

When asked if the President should be visiting the border Ryan agreed he should and touched on the ongoing fentanyl crisis.

“I mean, yeah. I'd like to see him go down there. I think it is a huge issue,” Ryan answered. “You know, we are recovering lots of drugs coming into the country, but not nearly enough. I have a resolution to label fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. And we need more Border Patrol. You know, we need more technology. I started the border technology caucus.”

So far, the race between Ryan and Vance has remained close and is expected to be one of the most closely watched races this summer. The Buckeye State was once a top general election battleground, but former President Trump carried the state by eight points in both his 2016 election and his 2020 re-election defeat.

When asked how he has kept things close, Ryan explained “I'm talking , jobs, wages, pensions, growing the economy, manufacturing, taking on China. Bread and butter issues. We're staying away from the very polarizing issues, the culture wars that most people aren't concerned with, and we're focusing on their pocketbooks. And I think that's what they want politicians to do regardless of which party you belong to.”

With five weeks to go until Election Day, an average of the most recent public opinion polls indicates a race that is virtually tied.

However, Ryan's attempts to paint himself as a moderate Democrat haven't gone unnoticed by Vance's campaign or the former president.

Trump charged that Ryan's “pretending to be a moderate so he can get elected … he is not a moderate. He's radical left.”

“JD is proud to have the entire unified behind him. Meanwhile, Ryan's running from his 100% voting record with and is leaning on leftist Hollywood celebrities like John Legend and Paul Simon to campaign for him. Ryan's campaign even held an event in Ohio with New Jersey senator Cory Booker, one of the most liberal lawmakers in the nation – but they kept it quiet,” Vance campaign press secretary Luke Schroeder argued.

Vance has also accused Ryan of trying to play to parts for voters in a pathetic attempt to sway votes. The Ohio Republican claimed Ryan tries to come across as a moderate in his “nonstop fraudulent television commercials,” and argued that there are “two Tims out there. A D.C. Tim that votes 100 percent of the time with Joe Biden, and there's campaign Tim who pretends he's a moderate.”

  1. If people can’t look at the damage the clown has done to the country and realize he IS the poison suggested then this country is far more mentally ill than can be handled.

    • The more of these left wing democrats we can purge from our government the better our chances are to keep them from destroying our country. These next two Novembers may well be the last best chance we have to accomplish that.

  2. That’s what the Dims do…promise moderation and then vote far-left after they get elected. Don’t believe a word they say.

  3. Tim Ryan was a RINO Speaker of the House, and he was similar to a vacuum in that he really sucked. The he switched parties.
Now, he wants to follow the Peter Principle and wants to be promoted to an office that he is truly unqualified for.
Don’t blame because I voted for Trump!
