Florida Democrat Endorses Ron DeSantis

-

Everyone loves Governor Ron DeSantis, even Democrats. While that's not entirely true it is a fact that DeSantis is wildly popular in his state and his star is only rising.

The clearest evidence of DeSantis's bipartisan popularity can be seen in Democrat Plam Beach Commissioner Dave Kerner's choice to endorse him for re-election instead of opting to support Democrat challenger Charlie Crist.

Kerner told “Fox & Friends” that his choice to support DeSantis was easy because the governor puts “America and Florida” first.

“I've been a registered Democrat since I registered to vote at the age of 18. I don't really see it as going against my party. I'm a Floridian, an American first. But there's a confluence of reasons,” Kerner said. “The trajectory of our state, which I spoke about in my endorsement, his support for law enforcement, his management of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a host of reasons why I endorsed him.”

DeSantis's popularity skyrocketed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as the Florida governor went directly against warnings issued by President Biden and Dr. Fauci which each opted to keep schools and businesses closed. As Democrat-led states forced Americans to shutter inside Florida saw its economy boom and experienced record growth.

During his interview, Kerner noted that DeSantis is viewed as “America's governor” and once again expressed his support for the progress Florida has experienced due to his policies.

“There has been a lot of that, what I call sort of shadow support for sure,” Kerner reflected. “Obviously, Governor DeSantis is doing an incredible job in Florida. He's America's governor, but there is a lot of support out there. And it's been referred to me by many people that have called me or texted me. You know, it's an act of courage, what you did and you should be proud. And it's not about what I did. It's about the governor's record of service in the state of Florida. But ultimately, it should not be an act of courage and should not be seen as an act of courage.”

The Florida Democrat also pointed to Crist's leftist policies as a reason to steer his support away from the candidate, according to The Floridian Press.

“The Governor's Democratic opponent has already started talking about reallocation, which to me, by the way, is a code word for taking resources away from the men and women that protect us. It's a code word for defunding the police.”

  1. Maybe Kerner’s support for DeSantis is also because Crist, the Democrat opponent, is a political hack who has been on every side of every issue depending on how he thinks the wind is blowing.

    • That’s for sure, that’s why Crist has run for office first as a republican, then an independent, and finally as a democrat. He doesn’t know what he want’s to be when he grows up. Surely the good people of Florida know him for the con he’s running, and reject him in November. They don’t need another phony liberal in elected office.
