US to Send Abrams Tanks Ahead of Expected Russian Offensive

It's official; the is deploying 31 of the best tanks in the world to go toe-to-toe with .

Along with Germany, which has reversed course and agreed to ship 14 Leopard 2 tanks to , the will send 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

The latest deployment of U.S. firepower is expected to conclude before Russia can launch its next large-scale offensive.

CNBC further reports:

The 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks, which amount to one Ukrainian tank battalion, will expand on the more than $26 billion the U.S. has committed to Kyiv's fight since Russia invaded nearly a year ago.

The U.S. will also provide eight M88 recovery vehicles that support the M1A1 Abrams. The Biden administration will also send more than 500 armored vehicles of various types to bolster Ukraine's military.

The U.S. plans to purchase the new M1s using funds from the congressionally approved Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

The Pentagon has been tasked with providing the training, maintenance and logistics support for the M1A1 tanks, according to the official. Another U.S. official said that the training on how to use the tanks, which will take several months, will occur outside of Ukraine.

  1. I still wish someone would tell me just what exactly the Biden Boys did in Russia and Ukraine that we are now spending $billions per month to cover up! We know they were getting paid by both sides at one point, but now the Big Guy wants a war with the Russians?
    Remember, the Ukrainians are not our friends (not that Russia is much better)! They don’t have a functioning democracy. They are a failed state led by criminals. They are sucking funds from us and the rest of NATO (which they are not part of) that could be better used at home.
