A group of congressional Republicans introduced a resolution Friday in support of “continued access to fertility care & assisted reproductive technology, such as IVF.”

The group of members – led by South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace – cosponsoring the resolution skews younger and hails from more vulnerable electoral districts than the predominant majority of GOP lawmakers in the House of Representatives.

Mace’s list of initial cosponsors includes Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04), Nick LaLota (NY-01), David Schweikert (AZ-01), Jen Kiggans (VA-02), Don Bacon (NE-02) and Jeff Van Drew (NJ-02). (RELATED: Alabama’s IVF Ruling Opens New Can Of Worms For Pro-Life Movement)

The issue of IVF has become one of contention in the Republican party since the Alabama Supreme Court ruled last month that frozen embryos at fertility clinics were subject to the same protection as living children.
