“We have it on video, guys.”
Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib is well-known when it comes to her uncompromising leftist views and loathing of all things Fox News.
The Squad member recently erupted at Fox reporter Hillary Vaughn after bellicose protesters in her congressional district were caught on film chanting “death to America.” (RELATED: Welcome To The Heartland? Protesters In Midwest City Chant ‘Death To America')
This time, a staffer from Tlaib's team tried to rain on Fox's proverbial parade with an umbrella.
Mediaite's Charlie Nash explains:
Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram was blocked by the staffer as he tried to interview Tlaib about a proposed address from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Congress.
As Pergram approached Tlaib with a microphone and asked, “What happens if Netanyahu comes–” the staffer opened up his umbrella in front of the Fox News reporter, blocking his view of the congresswoman.
The staffer then moved into a different position, however, giving Pergram the opportunity to speak directly to Tlaib.
“Ms. Tlaib, what happens if Netanyahu comes to speak?” he questioned. “Is that a mistake by the speaker to extend this request? What do you think of the Democratic leaders agreeing to that request as well?”
Tlaib gave Pergram the silent treatment for a while until she finally caved and answered his questions about Netanyahu's speech and whether she'd attend: “I don't know, inviting a war criminal to Congress is a sham. It's shameful.”
Watching the scene unfold from Fox's Washington studios, anchor Bret Baier dubbed the encounter “umbrellagate.”
