Recap: The Lies ABC Allowed Harris To Say During The Debate

ANALYSIS – Who checks the fact-checkers? Former President Donald Trump now stated that he will not debate Vice President Kamala Harris again, saying two debates including his knockout match with Joe Biden, is enough.

This, after Harris refused the follow-up debate on Fox agreed to with Biden. This, also after internal Trump polling showed he got a “2-point bump” in key swing states after his debate with Harris.

“We’ve done two,” Trump told The New York Post. “You know, one against Biden, one against Comrade Kamala. I did well. I did really well.”

Most public polls show Harris tightening the race a bit after the debate.

Still, the shameful behavior of the ABC moderators who incessantly “fact-checked” Trump, while not once doing it to Harris, has provoked justified outrage. But it’s not enough.

While partisan democrats and the colluding establishment media push the narrative that ABC interrupted Trump five times because he made more false statements, the truth is very different.

When Harris starts flip flopping on key issues, she is outright lying, but ABC only checked Trump.

Note that ABC fact-checked Trump’s correct claim that Harris proposes giving trans prison inmates sex change operations. They said she didn’t. But, of course, she did.

Since ABC allowed Harris to skate through the debate without substantive follow-up questions or pushback on some of her obviously false claims, The New York Post provided some Harris fact-checking for them.

Kamala claim: “As of today, there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world, the first time this century.”

Fact check: Our troops in Middle East are absolutely in a combat zone, under attack from Iran, which the Biden-Harris administration has allowed to grow more aggressive in its use of proxies. In January this year, three US soldiers in Jordan were killed by a drone attack from an Iran-aligned group, and dozens of others have been wounded in similar strikes.

Kamala claim: “I have not banned fracking as vice president of the United States, and in fact, I was the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which opened new leases for fracking.”

Fact check: Harris passed the bill because it was packed with left-wing giveaways. Those new leases were not the point of the bill, and only begrudgingly included to assuage Sen. Joe Manchin. Later, Manchin would accuse President Biden and Harris of going back on their word, saying new regulations were undermining the lease promises. “This is bulls–t,” he told Politico.

What’s also bulls**t missed by ABC is the Harris lie at the debate that she isn’t in favor of taking our guns, and that Trump was lying about her.

Then there are a couple of other Harris whoppers ignored by ABC. The most overused by Democrats for years, despite being widely debunked, is the one about Trump’s “fine people on each side” comments after the infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017.

The rally’s aim was to protest the removal of confederate statues and included some unsavory neo-Nazis and KKK racists. The event attracted its own left-wing counterprotesters. One neo-Nazi extremist rammed his car into a crowd, killing a leftist protester.

Repeating the same nonsense that Biden did during his disastrous debate with Trump, Harris said “Let’s remember Charlottesville, where there was a mob of people carrying tiki torches, spewing antisemitic hate, and what did the president then at the time say? There were fine people on each side.”

The truth is that Harris, along with Biden, always leaves out what Trump said next: “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists.”

Snopes has labeled “false” the idea that Trump praised neo-Nazis.

Finally, there is the obnoxious ‘fact-check’ against Trump noting that the FBI claims that crime is down across the U.S., while Trump rightly said crime is “through the roof.”

The former president responded that the FBI figures cannot be trusted – and he was right.

According to The Post, the Marshall Project, which focuses on law enforcement reporting, found that 6,000 law enforcement agencies were missing from the FBI’s 2023 analysis, representing a quarter of the U.S. population.

It concluded that whatever small reductions were seen in some major cities is nothing compared to how much crime has skyrocketed in the past three years.

So, whenever the establishment media fact-checks Trump, or any conservatives, just know that they are the ones lying. The fact-checkers need fact-checkers.
