In Case You Missed It: Jesse Watters Blasts Members of Congress for Pre-War Stock Trading

The host of Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” called out members of Congress who appear to have engaged in insider trading ahead of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In his show’s opening monologue, Watters calls out both Democratic and Republican representatives for trading stocks in energy and defense companies, saliently pointing out “It doesn’t matter what party you belong to, the role of the People’s House is to protect us, not members of Congress.”

Fox News adds:

“(They’re) trying to spend billions more, just paying back their political donors and just driving up inflation higher and higher. Your money, down the drain, while they call their financial adviser and make it rain. Now it’s the people of Ukraine who were being taken advantage of. The world sees suffering, but Congress, they see dollar signs.”

Among the members listed, Watters laser focused on lawmakers like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Energy subcommittee member Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) for reportedly purchasing energy stocks ahead of Russia’s invasion. Rep. Frankel also reportedly sold up to $15,000 in Lockheed Martin stock but retained shares in the company, according to Business Insider:

“It’s so funny because Frankel is a member of the Progressive Caucus, which backs the Green New Deal, and she’s buying fossil fuel companies in the run-up to a war,” Watters said.

He also took aim at Armed Services Committee member Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) who “snagged up to $15,000 worth of Chevron and another 50 grand worth of Duke Energy — over a month before the invasion.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has also come under fire from other members of congress, as financial filings reveal that she bought up to $15,000 in stock in defense manufacturers and energy companies two days before Russian forces invaded Ukraine. This comes days after tweeting “War and rumors of war is incredibly profitable and convenient. And just like that, the media has a lie to use as the reason for our shattered economy and out of control inflation.”

Politicians on both side of the isle are buying & selling stock that are profitible because of insider leads that us on the outside are not able to see or do. I would like tosee a law inacted that politicians while in off shall NOT be able to buy or sell stocks & bonds while in Gov. offices.
