The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Ray Epps, the former Marine Sergeant from Arizona at the center of a controversy that sees him as a potential informant for the FBI, or asset for another government agency, was video taped inciting others to riot at the Capitol on January 6. But he didn’t only incite rioting, the Trump cap-wearing Epps specifically and repeatedly encouraged others to breach and enter the Capitol building.

His behavior was so contrived that many in the crowd at the Capitol began yelling that he was a “Fed.”

However, not only has he not been charged with any crimes, but his photo, which initially appeared on FBI ‘Wanted’ posters, has been scrubbed by the Bureau.

This has raised many questions, primarily from those on the right about who Epps is and what was his role on January 6. Both Tucker Carlson at Fox News and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas have speculated that Epps might be an FBI informant or government asset.

The Democratic-led House committee investigating Jan. 6, released a statement following its hearing, claiming to have interviewed Epps and saying he’s not a “fed.”

But this only prompted further questions

The Washington Post quoted Cruz during his recent questioning of a senior FBI official on the January 11 Senate hearing on domestic terrorism :

“Mr. Epps has not been charged with anything,” Cruz later continued. “No one’s explained why a person videoed urging people to go to the Capitol, a person whose conduct was so suspect the crowd believed he was a fed, would magically disappear from the list of the people the FBI was looking at.”

FBI executive assistant director for national security Jill Sanborn replied: “I am aware of the individual. I don’t have the specific background of him.”

Soon after the hearing The Epoch Times contacted Epps’ attorney, former FBI agent John Blischak, who said about Epps: “He was interviewed by the FBI in Arizona. I was present during that interview, and unequivocally, he is not an FBI informant.”

Asked whether Epps is an asset for any government agency—law enforcement, intelligence, or otherwise—Blischak said, “Not to my knowledge.”

According to The Epoch Times:

Blischak also denied any deals or agreements between Epps and the FBI. He said he’s representing Epps “in the event that he becomes a potential defendant in any action brought as to what happened on Jan. 6, 2021.”

“We’ve been working with the House Committee,” Blischak. “That’s what we’ve been doing.”

When asked to characterize Epps’s actions on Jan. 5 and 6, Blischak said, “Merely present.”

As to why his client hasn’t been charged, Blischak added, “Because he’s not guilty! He has a good attorney.” However, it is doubtful these answers will end the speculation or the questions.
