The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade was visibly outraged on Thursday morning as he addressed baseless allegations from several political and media figures accusing him of using a racial slur on “Fox & Friends.”

A viral clip from Wednesday showed the “Fox & Friends” hosts discussing Vice President Kamala Harris’ choice to speak at a “college sorority” rather than attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress. The sorority, Zeta Phi Beta, is historically Black and was holding its annual convention in Indianapolis.

However, a supposedly independent Fox News watchdog, Bad Fox Graphics, misrepresented Kilmeade’s comments on the social media platform X, claiming he referred to the sorority as “colored.”

Prominent political figures quickly amplified this falsehood, despite its inaccuracy. Kilmeade recounted discovering this smear while hosting his radio show, saying, “So this ends up being this big thing, and it turns out the person who did it is head of the Washington Correspondents Association. And he’s a Politico guy who does playbook every day. I ended up speaking to him at the end of the day, and that conversation remained private. But they walked it back.”

Kilmeade continued, “They corrected it, but it didn’t stop for four or five hours. People like Jamie Harrison, head of the DNC, calling me a clown, making racial accusations my direction. People across the country just see the headline and start throwing things out. It disparages me, disparages this company.”

Reflecting on the incident, Kilmeade emphasized the importance of responsible reporting. “It’s a learned moment for everyone on the couch, everyone watching. From now on, things have changed, said Kamala Harris. Are they looking to label anyone anytime a racist, sexist, misogynist? I’m not going to back off anything I say. I think it was a huge mistake going to a college sorority instead of the prime minister’s address, and I’m not going to apologize for it. But people who are in the media should be responsible when they report things.”

Key Takeaways:

  • Misrepresentation: Bad Fox Graphics falsely claimed Kilmeade used a racial slur.
  • Viral Spread: The false claim was quickly propagated by political figures.
  • Media Responsibility: Kilmeade calls for accurate and responsible reporting.

The left will always find something to nitpick about. I’M TIRED OF IT! I love Brian Kilmeade.

I think that the media and politicos should fact check info before passing it on using social media platforms.
I also think that they have opened an avenue that could hold them accountable for slander and defamation suits.

I’ll take Kilmeade at his word that he did not used the word “colored.” But if he did how is that racist? As a child nearly 70 years ago I remember the signs on bus steps telling “coloreds” to go to the back of the bus. During the Civil War and afterwards, segregated black units were referred to as “colored” or “negro.” And what does the “C” stand for in NAACP? This is all a made-up tempest in a teapot to tarnish the reputation of a fine journalist and his network.

Unfortunatly for any of the few remaining journalists with morals about reporting facts, the vast majority of the media is only interested in sound bytes and increasing their viewership. Truth and Facts be Damned. Lie and Spin all day if it will get you published and on the air.

Not only media personnel, but also politicians should be held accountable for what they say. Media members should also be responsible for asking probing questions that result in the politicians responding until such time as the issue has been probed offering a “defense-in-depth” basis for the comment made. NABJ should establish higher ethics standards for its members ensuring honesty in the media – boot the errant out and end the privileges they get by virtue of being a journalist.

You betcha media figures should be responsible, from a legal standpoint, for knowingly spreading misinformation. Plus, if they spread garnered information before they validate the accuracy of that information they should also be legal responsible for wrongful injury in those instances. Once you put teeth into the recourse of wrongful slandered individuals media figures will start thinking twice before they so quickly report something that was allegedly said.
