Trump (And His Plan) Still Beating Biden (No Plan) In National Polls

-

ANALYSIS – Things aren't looking good for Democrats hell-bent on retaining the White House in 2024. With less than a year to go until the U.S. general election, RealClearPolitics' poll average shows trailing by 2 points nationally.

That's a big deal for an incumbent Democrat backed by the entire establishment running against a former Republican president with multiple ongoing (highly political) civil and criminal indictments, cases and trials.

While much of the commentary analysis says that Biden is doomed and that his multiracial base is increasingly cracking, especially among minorities and younger voters, others will keep trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Theories abound as to the cause of Biden's apparent political demise suggest three possibilities:

  1. The give a warning that Biden is a flawed (frail, elderly, demented, corrupt and unlikeable) candidate and another Democrat would do better.
  2. Biden faces a tough electoral environment with voters disliking the and state of the world – and he's taking the hit for it. His detractors say he and his leftist Democrat policies are the cause or catalyst for both. His defenders say it's still all Trump's fault.
  3. Biden's poor polling numbers will bounce back, as currently voters aren't paying much attention yet. This, to me, is the least likely explanation.

While it's probably too early to tell what's going to happen a year from now, or even show who the presidential nominees might be in a few months, polls remain useful to see if a political contest is close or not – this one is – and whether a politician or policy is popular with the overall electorate and key demographics – Biden and his policies are not.

Meanwhile, Trump, the GOP front-runner and presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has been releasing a flurry of solid statements and videos detailing his strong agenda, compared to Biden who has a more flaccid and impotent reelection pitch to voters – let him “finish the job.”

Sadly, for Biden, with the election now less than a year away, the economy will be a top issue for most Americans, and they may not want him to finish at all. In addition to profound differences on illegal immigration, guns, and climate policies, it's still mostly “the economy, stupid.”

And most Americans recall that Trump's presidency significantly impacted the economy in a good way. From tax reforms to policies, barring the Democrat-led COVID shutdowns, the Trump economy was performing very well.

His Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 stimulated economic growth by reducing corporate tax rates and providing tax relief for individuals.

As Trump the former businessman focused on concrete results for improving the economy, Biden the lifelong politician, and his merry band of leftists, has been busy massively overspending our tax dollars in his messianic quest to fight “” and “global warming.”

Biden's so-called Inflation Reduction Act includes nearly $375 billion for climate change, much of it going toward financial incentives (unsustainable subsidies) for electric cars, “clean energy” and other taxpayer-funded initiatives.

This not only doesn't help the economy in the near term, but it also probably doesn't help it in the longer term either. Instead, it has helped fuel the inflation surge we are all now suffering under.

In contrast, Trump has vowed to increase U.S. domestic production of fossil fuels by easing the permitting process for drilling on federal land and would encourage new natural gas pipelines.

He has also promised to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accords, a highly restrictive framework for reducing global greenhouse gases, instead championing the increased use of nuclear energy.

Trump plans to roll back Biden's electric vehicle mandates and other policies aimed at reducing auto emissions as well.

The former president has also promised to slash federal regulations that limit job creation, as well as perhaps another round of individual and corporate tax cuts beyond those enacted in his first term.

In other words, Trump has a proven plan for his next term. Biden just wants to get reelected and nap.
