Before Donald Trump and Elon Musk even held their interview on X (formerly known as Twitter), legacy media reporters were asking the White House about their plans to curb the spread of “misinformation.”
Fox News reports:
During Monday's press briefing, the Washington Post's Cleve Wootson Jr. invoked Musk's highly anticipated viral conversation with Trump that night, insisting misinformation is not a “campaign issue” but “an America issue” as well.
“What role does the White House or the president have in sort of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or sort of intervening in that? Some of that was about campaign misinformation, but, you know, it's a wider thing, right?” Wootson Jr. asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Jean Pierre answered, “You've heard us talk about this many times from here, we're working on it, we believe that they have a responsibility. These are private companies so we're also mindful of that too, but it is incredibly important to call that out as you're doing.”
“Misinformation” is one of the most dangerous terms in our political landscape, as the only consistent criteria seems to be inconvenience to left wing causes.
In Missouri v. Biden, the White House's relationship with Big Tech was made public, revealing continued pressure from government officials to silence and censor information unfavorable to the administration, even if it was true. The White House even singled out accounts to be suspended and banned.
In one email exchange, the White House's national digital strategy director stated that his concern was “shared at the highest (and I mean the highest) levels of the WH” corresponding with employees of a prominent social media platform, after they failed to take “sufficient action” against an account.
As much as the Biden-Harris administration and their allies claim to care about “democracy,” there's nothing “democratic” about it.
From coronavirus origins, to vaccine efficacy, to election integrity, to the Hunter Biden laptop story, to Joe Biden's fitness for office, story after story has been buried on the basis of “misinformation” — only to be vindicated and confirmed as true.
This exchange is just one symptom of a concerning and overwhelming disregard for free speech by the modern left — especially in the current presidential administration and their favored media outlets.
The largest and most influential tech companies in the world have come under fire for coordinating with Joe Biden's White House and the Democratic Party to control what information the American people are allowed to share and consume, prioritizing what's ideologically advantageous over what's actually true.
