Is Iran War Reaching Culmination? What About Democrats’ DHS Blockade?

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB): The Democrat blockade of DHS continues to weaken our ability to counter growing domestic terror threats. Even as last few days saw some escalation in the Middle East, with Iran launching missiles at Israel and Saudi Arabia, injuring U.S. service members.

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have also joined the fight with intensified strikes.

President Trump has demanded Iran reopen Strait of Hormuz, while global markets have hit new lows amid rising oil prices. Still, U.S. and Israel have even greater Iran strikes planned in near future, and potential ground assault, or blockade, of key Iranian islands, such as Kharg, could quickly and dramatically change the conflict’s dynamic.

And much more.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of the top defense news of the last couple of days from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

THE PDB – Not the President’s Daily Briefing, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF:

NATIONAL SECURITY

War in Ukraine transformed conflict. Iran is proof. Open-ended military conflict in Europe could intersect with open-ended military conflict in Middle East

It sure has, despite this critical story. War zone, minus the war: One year later, has military really secured U.S.-Mexico border? President Trump’s emergency declaration expanded military power, blurred legal lines and helped spread use of military-grade technology.

Proxy pressure on Iran: Promise and pitfalls of arming Kurds. Early in war, Trump team and Israel, believed they could foment popular uprising to topple Iranian regime. Part of that plan involved arming Kurdish fighters to infiltrate Iran from Iraq. Idea had intuitive logic.

WAR’S REGIONAL/GLOBAL IMPACT

How many people have been killed in the US-Israeli war on IranAlmost 3,500 people have been killed in Iran, mostly military. Over 1,000 have been killed in Israeli attacks targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon. 88 have been killed in Iraq. Iran has killed 31 people in attacks on its Gulf neighbors. 18 Israelis and four West Bank Palestinians have been killed by Iranian missiles, and two Israeli soldiers in Lebanon. U.S. has lost 13 military personnel.

As Israel trades fire with Hezbollah, calls for mass evacuations and sends ground troops deeper into Lebanon, its leaders hint at long-term occupation to serve as a security buffer from Hezbollah, modeled on conquest of much of Gaza after war with Hamas.

Why hasn’t U.S. used force to secure Strait of Hormuz? Since war against Iran began, Tehran has retaliated by targeting commercial ships in Strait of Hormuz, effectively shutting down narrow channel of water.

Iran was always going to close Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s five-day deadline to open Strait of Hormuz expired Friday and the Islamic Republic needs to “get serious before it is too late” – the president has announced.
