“Enough with the games.”
On Monday morning, CNN reported that the Trump campaign is raising fresh doubts about the Sept. 10 ABC News debate with Kamala Harris, citing a dispute over microphone rules.
According to an inside source, Trump's team prefers that the microphones be muted throughout the debate, except when it is the respective candidate's turn to speak. This approach mirrors the rules used during the first debate with President Joe Biden.
However, unlike Biden, the Harris campaign is pushing for a different approach. They want ABC News and other networks offering to host a potential October debate to keep the microphones on, even when it's not the candidates' turn to speak:
“We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates' mics should be live throughout the full broadcast,” Brian Fallon, the Harris campaign's senior adviser for communications, said in a statement.
“Our understanding is that Trump's handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don't think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own. We suspect Trump's team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don't think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button,” he said.
Trump's campaign has argued that when they agreed to the ABC debate with Harris at the top of the ticket, they were agreeing to the same guidelines of the previous debate.
“Enough with the games. We accepted the ABC debate under the exact same terms as the CNN debate,” Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller said in a statement.

Only have one thing to say. Harris agreed to the SEPTEMBER DEBATE, BUT NOW SHE WANTS TO CHANGE DEBATE RULES. BUT GEE SHE ONLY AGREED TO THIS DATE. WHILE PRESIDENT TRUMP WANTED 3 DEBATES, SHE REFUSED. SORRY TO LATE TO CHANGE THE RULES NOW. NO 3 DEBATES NO RULES CHANGE !!!
T.V. debates need to have microphones off so speakers can’t constantly disrupt and or speak over responses, which is a favorite tactic of Democrats.Those directing the debate need to have control so clarity and not negative tactics rule the debate. If open microphones are allowed, no debates should be undertaken!
