The United States Secret Service has been notified following the arrest of a man at a swanky Nashville hotel.
Arrest at the JW Marriott
Early in the morning of July 24, Nashville police responded to reports of chairs being thrown off the balcony of the 35-story JW Marriott. Officers promptly arrested the suspect, 58-year-old Jack Campitelli.
The situation escalated when Campitelli began an anti-Trump tirade during the booking process. According to police records, he ranted about Donald Trump and other undisclosed political figures, at one point stating, “Trump needs to die because he was a liar.”
Charges and Custody
Campitelli is currently in custody at the Downtown Detention Center. He faces three misdemeanors: vandalism, disorderly conduct and trespass, as reported by Law&Crime.
Given the nature of his remarks, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office deemed it necessary to notify the Secret Service as well:
Local NBC affiliate WSMV reported that Metropolitan Nashville Police were alerted to the ruckus allegedly caused by Campitelli only after driving past the JW Marriott on 8th Avenue South in downtown Nashville just before 6 a.m.
Police were flagged down by a hotel employee.
The employee told police that Campitelli had been asked to leave repeatedly and had refused and at one point, tossed two chairs from a hotel balcony onto the sidewalk below. At least two officers were called to assist.

The Secret Service did not immediately return a request for comment to Law&Crime on Friday.
Context and Concerns
Campitelli's comments came just 11 days after a gunman fired eight rounds at former President Donald Trump. Trump sustained an injury to his ear, while two rallygoers were critically injured and one tragically died at the scene.
Unanswered Questions
At this time, it remains unclear if Campitelli has retained legal representation. The connection between his comments and the political climate following the assassination attempt on Trump raises concerns about violent rhetoric and its repercussions.
It is uncertain when Campitelli will next appear in court.
