The Secret Service has confirmed that former President Trump is safe and under protective measures following an assassination attempt at today's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Moments ago, Trump released a statement on his social media platform:
“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of law enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person who was killed at the rally and to the family of another person who was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet ripping through the skin. There was much bleeding, so I realized then what was happening. God bless America!”
The United States Secret Service issued another press release stating: “One spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation, and the Secret Service has formally notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
