An attorney for a 26 year old illegal immigrant suspected of raping and murdering a 12 year old girl has filed a motion discouraging all parties involved from making public and/or extrajudicial statements, asserting that it may interfere with their clients receiving a fair trial.
Fox News reports:
The attorney of one of the illegal migrant suspects charged in the murder of Texas 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray has filed for a protective order to ensure that the negative media attention the case has received will not prevent him from his right to fair trial.
Two Venezuelan nationals – 21-year-old Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Peña Ramos – have been charged with capital murder in the death of Nungaray after the 12-year-old was found strangled to death in a Houston creek on June 17.
The United States has seen a spike in immigration from Venezuela, as well as a spike in crimes committed by Venezuelan migrants.
Earlier this year, a mob of Venezuelan illegal aliens surrounded and mercilessly beat two New York Police Department Officers, showing no remorse. A different Venezuelan migrant shot one NYPD officer point blank in the abdomen, and shot the other in the leg. He later cited “cultural differences” as the motivation for his shooting spree, reasoning that targeting cops was normal in his country of origin. A notorious Venezuelan gang also gave the green light for their members in the United States (specifically in Colorado) to begin targeting law enforcement.
At an appearance earlier this month, Donald Trump invited the victim's mother, Alexis Nungaray, to speak alongside another “angel mom” (a mother of a child slain by an illegal immigrant).
While Joe Biden seemed to go off script in this year's State Of The Union address and acknowledge Laken Riley, who also had her life cut short by an illegal alien, Kamala Harris has yet to recognize any of the American citizens murdered by noncitizens this year.
Harris and the Democrats have been hesitant and strategic to outline policy ahead of the quickly approaching presidential election, but at the DNC they made a point of highlighting immigration and abortion.
While Trump appears to be in pursuit of a middle ground on the abortion issue, it seems as though immigration will be at the forefront of the race, as it's one of the only issues both candidates have made their positions clear on, and they're diametrically opposed.
Both Trump and Vance have continuously hammered the Biden-Harris administration for their approach to illegal immigration, arguing that they've made America less safe and exacerbated financial burdens on the lower and middle classes, forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for government subsidized programs for foreigners as well as forcing citizens to compete with them for housing and job opportunities.
Both Donald Trump and Alexis Nungaray seem to believe the preteen's tragic death was the result of bad leadership and entirely preventable. And the more attention is brought to the case, the worse things look for Jocelyn's killers, and Kamala Harris — who Trump portrays as her killers' enablers.
The order filed by the defendant's lawyers sought to “[prevent] the parties to this cause, law enforcement officials, the Houston Forensic Science Center, or court personnel from making extrajudicial statements or otherwise disseminating information concerning this cause by any means of public communications….The additional extra-judicial statements to the news media are likely to produce a result of undue prejudice in the community to deprive the Defendant of a fair trial guaranteed by Article I of the Texas Constitution and the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.”
Peña's attorneys concluded by asking all parties involved to “refrain from making any further extrajudicial statements relating to this cause and to refrain from further dissemination of information, regardless of whether the information was previously disclosed to the public, concerning this cause by way of public communication, and for all other relief just and proper in the case.”
Normal shyster tactics.
I hope for the families’ sake that this case gets resolved soon. THIS IS ANOTHER FAILURE OF OUR PRESENT ADMINISTRATION.
He should be subject to the DP.
