ANALYSIS – And they are totally wrong. I have long-argued that retired generals and admirals should refrain from partisan politicking. But since the genie is now out of the bottle it is nearly impossible to put back in.
And sadly, a misguided group of Trump-hating retired generals under the name “National Security Leaders for America” is defending Vice President Kamala Harris from criticism over the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the disastrous and deadly U.S. retreat from Afghanistan.
In August of 2021, just days before the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, the Taliban swept into Kabul. And along with hundreds of Afghans being killed, 13 American Marines needlessly lost their lives in a suicide bombing as they helped secure Kabul airport during the chaotic withdrawal.
And now, after the House Foreign Affairs Committee released a scathing report detailing the Biden administration’s many failures on Afghanistan, and highlighting Harris’ role in particular, Democrats scraped up this group to play defense.
The GOP report accurately describes how Biden-Harris ignored repeated warnings from senior military officials, national security advisers and our allies about the risks associated with quickly drawing American forces down to zero.
And, as the ‘last person in the room,’ Harris “appears to have been working in lockstep” with Biden, notes the report.
The merry band of 10 former generals and admirals shilling for Harris includes three 4-stars: Admiral Steve Abbot, a former advisor to George W. Bush, Gen. Lloyd W. Newton and Gen. Larry R. Ellis.
In their letter:
The group went on to attack former President Trump for allegedly setting up President Biden and Harris to fail in Afghanistan. They say the Trump administration negotiated a deal “without involving the Afghan government” and released 5,000 Taliban fighters back onto the battlefield.
“He left President Biden and Vice President Harris with no plans to execute a withdrawal, and with little time to do so. This chaotic approach severely hindered the Biden-Harris Administration’s ability to execute the most orderly withdrawal possible and put our service members and our allies at risk. Nevertheless, President Biden with the support of Vice President Harris ended America’s longest war, oversaw the largest airlift in U.S. history, and brought our troops home,” the generals wrote.
As someone who was intimately involved, as a volunteer, in rescuing Americans and our Afghan allies from the Taliban during and after the Biden-Harris catastrophe, I can say also that I strongly disapproved of former President Trump’s decisions and plans to withdraw quickly from Afghanistan.
To me, Trump’s actions and plans were faulty and reckless. And I wrote that publicly at the time.
Still, Trump had a record of later adjusting to reality and advice, so he likely would have handled the withdrawal much differently, once it began, had he remained in office.
Meanwhile, despite the Democrat rhetoric, Trump’s decisions did not shackle Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The ditzy duo was fully able to change the timeline, and manner of the withdrawal, even making it only a partial withdrawal, if they chose.
But Biden-Harris defied and overrode all their military advisors and their recommendations to leave a counter terrorist force behind, as well as the option of staying in Bagram air base. They were hell-bent on rushing out, damn the costs or risks, as Biden had wanted since he was Obama’s VP.
There is no doubt that, with Afghanistan, the buck stopped with Biden-Harris. And no Trump-hating general or admiral will convince me otherwise.
However, the absurd missive isn’t just about defending Harris on Afghanistan, the group is essentially endorsing Harris, and trashing Trump.
Fox News reports:
“Vice President Kamala Harris is the best—and only—presidential candidate in this race who is fit to serve as our commander-in-chief,” the group wrote in a National Security Leaders for America letter, first obtained by Axios.
“She has demonstrated her ability to take on the most difficult national security challenges in the Situation Room and on the international stage, from rallying our allies against Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine to standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies in the Indo-Pacific against China’s provocative actions, to advancing U.S. leadership on space and artificial intelligence,” the letter continued.
The latter part above is beyond ridiculous, and clearly shows how delusional these retired senior military leaders are. No sane national security profession would say that Harris is fit to be commander-in-chief.
On the contrary, she has proven a failure in every regard as VP. Meanwhile, Trump already proved that he could handle the job very well.

Stupid assed Democrats! And seriously, Who sends out the military, then pulls out the civilians? Who protects the civilian withdrawal? It was a serious case of Cranial Rectumitis if I ever saw one! And I started serving during the Carter Years!
My guess is the Generals backing Harris do so because they are concerned that they will be brought up on charges dereliction of duty. Because of the actions they took that day many people were killed both civilian and troops. Because of the equipment that was left behind and the billions of dollars of our tax money that has been given to Iran and the terrorists we now stand on the edge of nuclear war. These military chose the cowards way out. They were threatened by Biden and they caved. They should and will be accountable for their actions. Their families along with others will be destroyed if she is elected. These men are not leaders they are cowards right along with the other traitors like Bolton. They care less about the carnage that will come as the result of their traitorest actions and that includes the 51 idiots that signed that letter for Biden. These poor excuses of leaders should be held responsible.
More proof that our enemies have infiltrated our government and our military. Just like the 51 intel clowns who lied to the American people about Hunter’s laptop. We need to realize the America harming decisions being made by politicians isn’t because of incompetence(although that would be easy to believe)it is because the enemies of America have infiltrated and corrupted our government. Why would democrats want people from other countries voting in American elections? Why would democrats want our borders largely unsecured? Why would democrats want fentanyl pouring into America? The election in November is critical to the survival of the USA. The my body argument fails to realize it isn’t their body being killed it is a separate living human being. Abortion is a tough issue but allowing one person to murder another person isn’t right or moral.
