If you’re a gun owner, working either on salary or an hourly wage, paying taxes, buying gas and groceries, and you are not better off than you were four years ago, you’re among the majority (56%) of “likely voters” recently surveyed by the Rasmussen polling firm who said they are in worse shape than they were in 2020.
American gun owners who have been hit with struggling economic woes have lots of company.

According to Rasmussen, a recent telephone and online survey revealed that 40 percent of likely voters claim to be better off than they were four years ago.
The same survey also found “Republicans (are) more trusted than Democrats on two key issues.”
On the economy, 51 percent trust Republicans and 41 percent trust Democrats to handle it.
On the immigration crisis, 53 percent trust Republicans while 38 percent trust Democrats.
With the election less than three weeks away, grassroots activists across the map are pushing hard to make sure gun owners vote. Social media is busy with reminders, especially relating to getting absentee ballots if you plan to be on a hunting trip.
Rasmussen’s survey contacted 1,050 likely voters Oct. 1-3 with a sampling error of =/- 2 percentage points and a 95 percent level of confidence. The polling firm noted, “Among voters who say they’re not better off than they were four years ago, 80% trust Republicans more to handle immigration and 79% trust Republicans more to handle the economy.”
Rasmussen added, “On the question of which party is most trusted to handle immigration, Republicans (90%) are significantly more likely than Democrats (79%) to trust their own party more, and unaffiliated voters favor the GOP by 56% to 25% margin.”
Coincidentally, a story at Fox News Digital featuring an interview with Texas firearms retailer Gary Humphreys revealed his observation that an influx of women are buying handguns for personal protection, “citing immigration concerns,” according to the headline.
“While 66% of Democrats say they’re better off than they were four years ago,” Rasmussen reported, “that opinion is shared by only 10% of Republicans and 29% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Republicans, 51% of unaffiliated voters and 28% of Democrats say they’re not better off.”
Early voting has already started in several states, and other states with mail-in balloting will have their ballots in voters’ mailboxes within days.
