On Wednesday, Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann (R) experienced a terrifying medical episode while presiding over the Senate chamber.
In the video circulating online, Hosemann can be seen collapsing face-first to the ground as onlookers appeared shocked and terrified.

Staffers quickly attended to the fallen elected official and the session was called into recess. According to WJTV-12 News, Hosemann was seen walking to a vehicle shortly after the incident concluded.
Hosemann reportedly was able to stand up after the fall and declined to be taken to a hospital after emergency responders appeared on the scene, WJTV-12 News noted.
A spokesperson for Hosemann’s office later released a statement claiming, “Lieutenant Governor Hosemann is doing well and in good spirits. He appreciates all of the medical staff and is eager to return to work.”
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves (R) posted on X, “@firstladyofms and I are praying for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann!”
The shocking incident comes weeks after Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also took a series of falls earlier this month. (RELATED: McConnell Rolls Back To Capitol After Latest Falls, Dismisses Concerns)
McConnell slipped down a small set of stairs as he was leaving the Senate chamber after voting to confirm President Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Scott Turner, according to multiple reports.
The seven-term senator was immediately helped up by two colleagues, Sens. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), and was able to walk away unassisted.
Later Wednesday, McConnell fell a second time during a GOP lunch, according to CNN.
McConnell, 82, has faced a series of health setbacks in recent years, including a December fall that required medical attention at the Capitol. His most publicized health scares came in the summer of 2023, when he twice froze mid-sentence during press conferences, gripping the podium in silence before being escorted away.
