Flyers containing the personal information of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been found in Southern California neighborhoods. These flyers, which include the names, pictures, and phone numbers of ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers, are part of a larger trend of anti-ICE activism in the Los Angeles area, known for its large and well-established Mexican community.
Multiple federal law enforcement sources have confirmed the existence of these flyers, which were suspected to be distributed by activists who have been interfering with ICE operations in the region. The flyers, written in Spanish, contain the message “CAREFUL WITH THESE FACES,” accompanied by a harsh characterization of the work done by ICE and HSI agents that arguably borders on progressive propaganda.
The flyers’ message claims that ICE and HSI agents “racially terrorize and criminalize entire communities” with their policies. It accuses the agencies of “kidnapping” people from their homes and the streets, separating families, and contributing to the deaths of individuals detained in jails and detention centers.
While the flyer’s creators have not yet been officially identified, the posting of such personal information has raised serious concern among law enforcement officials.
ICE has already expressed its concerns regarding the safety of its officers, noting that the publication of personal data in this manner puts those officers and their families at risk.
A spokesperson from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) strongly condemned the actions, calling the activists’ tactics an attempt to “put targets on the backs of our law enforcement.” The spokesperson continued, accusing the activists of shielding criminal gangs, including MS-13 and Tren De Aragua, known for their involvement in human trafficking, drug distribution, and other illegal activities. “These individuals will be held accountable for obstructing the law and justice,” the statement concluded.
Federal authorities are investigating the situation. An FBI spokesperson also weighed in, warning that those who interfere with law enforcement operations could face legal repercussions. The FBI’s statement emphasized the importance of safeguarding constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and assembly, but clarified that any actions endangering the safety of law enforcement officers or hindering investigations would be subject to potential prosecution by the Department of Justice.
This isn’t the first instance of interference with immigration enforcement under the second Trump administration. Following a leaked ICE raid that led to illegal immigrants evacuating their place of residence before agents showed up, Border Czar Tom Homan revealed that the leak came from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Homan, speaking on Fox News, revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are currently investigating the leaks.
He stated that the investigation is focused on a specific leaker within the FBI and that there is substantial evidence pointing in that direction. In a conversation with Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, Homan was informed that the DOJ believes they have identified the person responsible for leaking information ahead of a significant operation targeting Venezuelan migrants in Aurora, Colorado.
