The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau confirmed Thursday that the State Department revoked visas held by members of a Mexican band.

Landau accused the band of Los Alegres del Barranco, of “glorifying a drug kingpin” when they projected an image of El Mencho onto a screen at a recent concert in Mexico. El Mencho, whose real name is Nemesio Oseguera Ramos, is the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), considered to be one of the most feared transnational drug trafficking gangs. The Trump administration recently declared the CJNG as one of the eight criminal groups operating as “foreign terrorist organizations.”

“I’m a firm believer in freedom of expression, but that doesn’t mean that expression should be free of consequences,” Landau wrote on X.

“I’m pleased to announce that the State Department has revoked the band members’ work and tourism visas.”

Landau continued, “In the Trump Administration, we take seriously our responsibility over foreigners’ access to our country. The last thing we need is a welcome mat for people who extol criminals and terrorists.”

The band’s visas were revoked following widespread outrage in Mexico over the concert, according to The Daily Wire.

The band was scheduled to play in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 4. While the event hasn’t been publicly cancelled, ticket sales websites read: “No tickets available for now on our site” for that date.

Prosecutors in two states launched investigations into the projected images, according to The Canadian Press.

The decision to revoke the band’s visas comes amid the Trump administration’s widespread crackdown on illegal immigration.

On Friday, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced federal murder charges against three alleged MS-13 gang members or associates in connection to the brutal murder of a man in Florida.

The three are accused of stabbing and shooting Gerson Vilelio Vasquez-Portillo, 22, in western Palm Beach County in 2015. He was believed to be an affiliate of a rival gang member.

The arrests are part of cold-case investigations into a total of four murders which took place in 2014 and 2015 in and around Broward County in South Florida, officials said. One of the victims was stabbed 100 times before being shot in the head.

“These gangs are organized. They are terrorists. And look at these guys, they thought they got away with it for almost a decade but they did not,” Bondi said. “They are living among us because they think they can get away with this, and they cannot.”
