Minnesota Governor Tim Walz raised eyebrows this weekend after calling on his fellow Democrats to “bully the s***” out of Donald Trump, claiming that the party’s biggest failing is not being mean enough. Speaking at Representative Jim Clyburn’s fish fry and again at the Minnesota Democratic Party convention, Walz made an impassioned plea for his party to adopt a more aggressive stance in response to Trump’s second term in the White House.
Yet his comments strike many observers as ironic—if not entirely disconnected from political reality.
Since Donald Trump first announced his presidential campaign in 2015, Democrats and their allies in media, academia, and entertainment have launched a near-relentless barrage of mockery, name-calling, and derision. From “Cheeto Mussolini” and “orange man” jokes to personal attacks on his family and supporters, the anti-Trump resistance has not exactly been known for its restraint or civility.
So when Walz insisted that it’s time for Democrats to “get a little meaner” and fight back against what he described as a “weak, cruel man,” it begs the question: What exactly haven’t they already tried?
From the fruitless Russia investigation to impeachment trials to late-night comedy takedowns, the left has thrown virtually every insult and institutional attack it could muster at Trump, only to see his political brand grow stronger. If the goal was to “bully” him into irrelevance, it clearly didn’t work.
In fact, one could argue that Trump simply beat them at their own game. While Democrats have relied on carefully curated outrage and media amplification, Trump has wielded mockery like a weapon—often more effectively. He gave his opponents nicknames that stuck, has a natural talent for humor that even his detractors have been forced to acknowledge, turned stereotypically boring political events and government proceedings into spectacle, and used his outsider status to portray himself as the underdog and ally of the “every man,” despite his wealth and while occupying the highest office in the land.
Rather than being “too nice,” as Walz suggests, the real critique of the Democratic Party might be its lack of strategic coherence. Its messaging often swings between moral outrage and elitist scorn, alienating working-class voters while failing to present a unified alternative to Trumpism. Calling for more aggression may rev up loyal partisans, but it also risks reinforcing the very image of Democrats as out-of-touch culture warriors who sneer at half the country.
His political superpower isn’t just his bravado—it’s his ability to thrive on opposition, no matter how vicious or personal.
If Democrats try to emulate Trump’s persona and tough, gritty approach, they may find themselves fighting on his terms—and losing badly.

I hope the Citizens of the USA realize that the Corrupt Globalist Democrat Party has become against them and only favor the Establishment Elites.
It is hard to believe that they could be against nearly all the good things that Trump is trying to do!
Demos just can’t believe they’ve separated themselves from their corrupt NGO strategy that has produced millions and billions of $ for them during the past 4 years and probably longer. Especially Walz who couldn’t believe he was right on the brink of being on the next step to the most powerful position in the world after being picked as a running mate to a nincompoop who couldn’t win her way out of a paper bag. They all seemed to have dollar signs in their eyes and no policy issues to ask the public to support with them, The public obviously could see through the word salad deceptions. They could never produce a leader who could project a real commitment to running the country better than what we had. This portends to the general public that these individuals are criminally inclined and no will support these type politicians except those who are also on the take and in bed with them. I hope this continues with our current POTUS as he has us on the right path to a bigger and better Great nation that we need to continue to be.
Thus is hardly new. That’s what they’ve been doing all along. But admitting it openly is new.
What a JOKE this entity is – and to think that he COULD and probably WOULD be elected by the lefties,
And the left has a total lack of humor, despite most of our professional commodians, er, comedians.
This guy is a lunatic. How any state could elect this guy to any position is unbelievable. He is fomenting violence yet no one does anything about it.
Unfortunately he is espouses the view of the Democrats and they still cannot figure out why their approval rating are in the tank. Shows how smart the leadership, if there is any, really is.
