As tensions in the Middle East escalate with open conflict between Israel and Iran, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) launched a fiery social media tirade Sunday night, condemning those pushing for U.S. military involvement and warning that such advocacy betrays the principles of the “America First” movement.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Greene labeled calls for American military engagement in the growing regional war “disgusting” and accused some of her political peers — including former MAGA-aligned figures — of abandoning their principles in favor of foreign interventionism.
“Everyone is finding out who are real America First/MAGA and who were fake and just said it bc it was popular,” Greene wrote. “Unfortunately the list of fakes are becoming quite long and exposed themselves quickly.”
According to reports, the conflict has already claimed hundreds of lives. Iranian strikes killed at least 10 people in Israel over the weekend, while Israel’s response has resulted in at least 224 Iranian deaths and over 1,200 injuries, most of them civilians, according to Iran’s health ministry.
Greene, however, argued that deeper American involvement would serve only to fuel more bloodshed and drag the U.S. into yet another endless war.
“This war will quickly engulf the Middle East, BRICS, and NATO as countries are required to take a side,” she warned. “Real America First/MAGA wants world peace… not our military killed and forever injured physically and mentally.”
“They are our friends, spouses, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters,” she said of U.S. service members. “They should be securing OUR borders, not someone else’s.”
Greene’s anti-war message dovetailed with a broader critique of U.S. foreign policy and federal spending priorities. She cited past interventions in the Middle East, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and America’s staggering $36 trillion national debt as reasons to avoid further entanglements abroad.
“We have spent TRILLIONS in the Middle East,” she wrote. “All because they told us propaganda as to why we must sacrifice our own to defend some other country’s borders.”
“I don’t want to see Israel bombed or Iran bombed or Gaza bombed. I don’t want to see Ukraine bombed or Russia bombed. And we do NOT want to be involved or required to pay for ANY OF IT!!!”
Greene made clear she does not oppose global engagement outright, but advocates for peace-focused trade and diplomacy, not military aggression.
While Greene’s anti-war stance garnered praise from some quarters of the populist right, others accused her of downplaying the risks posed by Iran’s regime and its regional influence. Yet in the context of rising public war fatigue, her message could strike a chord with voters — particularly as new polling shows Americans are increasingly skeptical of costly overseas engagements.
Greene concluded her remarks with a plea for empathy and restraint: “Innocent people are dying and more will die if the U.S. gets fully involved.”

Seems that Greene is either unaware or ignorant of the threats over the decades from Iran to “destroy the Great Satan” if they ever acquired nuclear weapons….of course in “Islamic talk” the Great Satan is the United States!
Let me get this straight, mtg, you are an isolationist who don’t want a forever war. I agree with you on that point, BUT….The Irani regime has promised death to Israel and death to America for almost 50 years. The regime and their proxies are ready to fulfill their mission. Let Israel finish the job and allow them to have what we can give them to do it. When I heard that Israel started this mission, I danced in my living room till I remembered the terror cells in 17 of our states and I ran has proxies in our country and Europe. How much does your isolationism mean to you?
Ms Greene, I suggest you sit this out and keep your personal opinions to yourself. Trump is the president and for Iran any fuel you provide will be used for their benefit. Get in line behind your president and shut the f up! And this message is for the rest of the gotta say it out loud and can’t shut up as well. It will likely cost every grandstander in the end! And your constituents as well since this is not the time for debate!
