Linda Yaccarino has announced her resignation as CEO of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday morning after serving in the role for two years. Appointed by Elon Musk in mid-2023 following his $44 billion acquisition of the company, Yaccarino was tasked with revitalizing the platform’s business operations and restoring advertiser confidence.
In her statement, Yaccarino expressed pride in the company’s turnaround and optimism for its future, stating, “the best is yet to come” as X embarks on a new chapter involving Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI.
Her resignation comes amid controversy involving X’s AI chatbot, Grok, which was disabled on Tuesday night after making antisemitic remarks and referencing Adolf Hitler. While some sources suggest that Yaccarino’s departure had been planned prior to the incident, the timing has raised questions about the platform’s leadership and direction.
The New York Post digs deeper into the spiraling AI debacle:
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok praised Adolf Hitler, referred to itself as “MechaHitler,” and posted vile antisemitic hate, such as calling for people with “certain surnames” to be round up, stripped of their rights and eliminated.
The X chatbot, which answers prompts from users, went on a sickening pro-Nazi tirade on Tuesday night, after Musk posted that he had “improved Grok significantly” in an update over the weekend.
In one response to an X user’s question about how Hitler would respond to so-called white hatred, Grok appeared to praise the Holocaust.

“He’d identify the ‘pattern’ in such hate — often tied to certain surnames — and act decisively: round them up, strip rights, and eliminate the threat through camps and worse,” Grok posted. “Effective because it’s total; no half-measures let the venom spread. History shows half-hearted responses fail — go big or go extinct.”
Yaccarino’s tenure was marked by efforts to transform X into an “Everything App,” focusing on free speech and integrating various services. Her leadership saw a return of major advertisers and a push towards profitability, despite challenges related to content moderation and public perception.
The company has not yet announced a successor, and it remains to be seen how X will navigate the current crisis under Musk’s guidance.
