Former Vice President Kamala Harris revealed on Thursday that she will publish a memoir chronicling her brief 2024 presidential campaign following Joe Biden’s sudden exit from the race.
Titled 107 Days, the book is scheduled for release on September 23 and promises to offer an inside look at “the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.”
In a video announcement, Harris said she wrote the memoir “with candor and reflection,” hoping to share “what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward.”
Mixed Reception on Social Media
The announcement sparked intense criticism online. Some social media users mocked the idea of writing a book about a failure of this nature, with one commenting, “How are you not embarrassed to have run one of the worst presidential campaigns in history? You literally had rappers twerking at your events.”
Others doubted Harris’s involvement in the writing process, with remarks like, “You wrote a book? You couldn’t make it through a speech without the teleprompter but you want people to believe you wrote a book?” Another called it “a book full of word salad.”
Campaign Context and Controversies
Harris’s campaign unfolded after Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race in late July 2024, following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump, who went on to secure a historic second term. While in official statements, Biden supported Harris as the nominee, there were widely circulated rumors of internal turmoil that seemed to bubble into the public eye — especially after Election Day.
In an October interview with 60 Minutes, Harris claimed she was “elected” the Democratic nominee. However, a fact check by Breitbart News found her statement misleading, noting that while she secured the majority of delegates, she did not win votes in the primary process.
Adding to the controversy, former President Trump recently accused Harris’s campaign of illegally paying celebrities—including Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey—for endorsements, a claim that has been covered in numerous reports. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT… Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!”
Future Plans
Harris has since ruled out a run for California governor in 2026, while Biden reportedly secured a $10 million deal for his own presidential memoir.
As 107 Days prepares to hit shelves later this year, questions remain about how the memoir will be received amid the controversies and generally poor public opinion surrounding Harris’s historic but tumultuous campaign.
