Reports indicate an active shooter opened fire with a weapon resembling an AR‑15-style rifle inside the Owl Bar or immediately outside. Early accounts suggest up to six people were killed, though authorities have not confirmed the final victim count as of this article’s publication.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes — patrons running, sirens blaring, and streets teeming with tactical units from various law enforcement agencies.
Congressman Ryan Zinke posted to X at 3:41 p.m. (EDT) that his office is closely monitoring the situation, adding, “Anyone in Anaconda should stay inside and lock their doors. Much is still unknown, and the assailant is still not in custody.”
Authorities earlier this afternoon believed the suspect may have been fleeing toward Georgetown. Deputies swarmed the Flint Creek pass between Philipsburg and Anaconda and pulled over a white Ford F-150 thought to be linked to the shooting spree — but it turned out to be unrelated.
Authorities are urging the thousands of innocent residents in Deer Lodge County to remain viligiant as the manhunt intensifies.
The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that the suspect was last seen wearing a tie-dyed shirt, blue jeans, and an orange bandana.
