Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly declared Saturday morning that Ukraine will not surrender any territory to Russia — underscoring that such concessions are prohibited under the Ukrainian Constitution — even as a U.S.–Russia summit looms.
The statement comes just days before President Donald Trump’s scheduled meeting with Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 in Alaska. Trump has floated the idea of “territory swaps” with Russia as a pathway to peace — an idea that Zelensky swiftly rejected.
In a video address, Zelensky stressed that only Ukraine can legitimately participate in any decisions affecting its borders, calling any arrangement without Kyiv “dead decisions” — unlikely to work. He affirmed Ukraine’s willingness to pursue a durable peace but insisted that it cannot come at the expense of its sovereignty or be brokered behind its back.
European and Ukrainian officials have voiced concern that Trump’s willingness to negotiate directly with Putin — without Ukraine at the table — could sideline Kyiv and embolden future Russian ambitions, citing repeated cross-border raids in eastern Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, and Russia’s full-scale 2022 invasion.
As CBS News reports:
Zelenskyy said Ukraine “will not give Russia any awards for what it has done” and that “Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier.”
Touching on Ukrainian anxieties that a direct meeting between Mr. Trump and Putin could marginalize Kyiv and European interests, Zelenskyy said: “Any decisions that are without Ukraine are at the same time decisions against peace. They will not bring anything. These are dead decisions. They will never work.”

A senior White House official told CBS News that planning for the summit is fluid and it is still possible that Zelenskyy could end up being involved in some way.
The White House said earlier this week that Mr. Trump is open to meeting with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, but Mr. Trump suggested Friday he may start by meeting just Putin. He told reporters he plans to “start off with Russia.” Mr. Trump also said he believes “we have a shot at” organizing a trilateral meeting with the Ukrainian and Russian leaders.

Last I checked, Article 1 of the UN Charter declares the right to self-determination. The US bombed Serbia, defending Kosovo’s right to self-determination. The people of the Donbass and Crimea have voted first for independence and then to unite with Russia. Since the US indicated Article 1 to be valid in the past, we should do so now. If not, those in eastern Ukraine will again be subject to suppression and slaughter as they have for more than fourteen years at the hands of the Ukrainian government.
Zelensky is about to get eaten up by Russia at his own doing.
Putin owes reparations.
You can say what you want and believe it as well, Zelenskyy was put in power by the DS. The dems have used this poor country to do whatever the DS wanted-money laundering, human trafficking, hidden bio-labs, etc. You name it, they’ve done it. The Uranian people have been purposely decimated. No one seems to care other than DJT. You may not like him, but all of the money given to Ukraine has ended up in the hands of the corrupt government who runs it and all the politicians in America who supported it. It is a disgrace.
No matter wehere you go, DS is like an octopus with tenticals reaching and corrupting all the time.
I kind of agree with Zelensky in that territory cannot be willingly be given up. How would we feel if a neighbor such as Canada invaded Washington and Idaho State and was advancing into Oregon. If say Britian came in and madde a deal with Canada that Canada could keep the land would that be right. How about if Mexico came across the Rio Grande river invading the States of Texas and New Mexico and then threatened Oklahoma and Colorado, would we allow another nation to recommend we give them up. I highly doubt this is an acceptable solution. The only acceptable solution is to guarrantee that NATO membership will NOT be given to Ukraine which was what started this whole mess to begin with. Both Russian and China want buffer zones between their nations and the free world. Its Communism vs Capitalism. It is my opinion that OUR democrats heavy hand had a lot to do with this mess when they should not have pushed for NATO membership of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly declared Saturday morning that Ukraine will not surrender any territory to Russia. Nor should he. Ukraine was violently attacked without warning and its citizens, infrastructure and necessary means for survival, (Food, water, and shelter) targeted. They are targeted even today. Ukraine was guaranteed protection when he gave up the nuclear weapons Russia left behind when the USSR dissolved. That guarantee must be honored. No tin horn failed dictator should be rewarded with a single thing for his cowardly invasion, and terrorist actions against the civilian population of Ukraine. The humiliation of Putin and Russia is already in the history books. Russia and separately Putin himself, should be forced to pay full restitution for the damage his invasion of a peaceful country has caused to not only Ukraine, but those that have supported Ukraine in its defense.
No invader like Russia should get to keep the land they took by force. Russia needs consequences, not rewards for their incursion and breaking the peace.
Zelensky is illegitimate as of January and was probably DNC installed.
Have Ukraine elections and let the legitimate big boy leaders hash it out.
