The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating the man’s identity and possible motives.
Murrill has been outspoken in her pursuit of child predators, particularly those operating on digital platforms. Her office is currently targeting child exploitation and online grooming crimes.
A 2021 study from the University of New Hampshire’s Crimes Against Children Research Center found that one in five children aged 10 to 17 had encountered unwanted sexual solicitation online. That data supports Murrill’s focus on cracking down on predators using platforms like Roblox to target minors.
While no official motive has been confirmed, the incident comes at a time of rising threats and violence against public officials.
