Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

In a weekend marked by both profound sorrow and sharp political turns, America finds itself at a crossroads. From the emotional memorial of Charlie Kirk that brought tens of thousands together — and two unlikely allies back into alignment — to new flashpoints in the immigration and foreign policy debates, the nation is wrestling with questions far deeper than headlines.

In a moment that felt both heartbreakingly intimate and politically seismic, tens of thousands gathered Sunday at State Farm Stadium to remember Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, whose assassination during a campus event just twelve days ago has sent shockwaves across the country.

By sunrise, lines of mourners had already stretched around the arena, some waiting since 4 a.m. for a chance to honor the man they say gave a voice to conservative youth. The stadium — typically home to the Arizona Cardinals — reached full capacity early, prompting organizers to open the neighboring Desert Diamond Arena for overflow, filling its 19,000 seats as well.

Video from the Daily Caller showed a sea of attendees — some holding signs, others praying quietly — pouring into both venues. “It already feels more packed than the Super Bowl,” reported DCNF’s Hailey Gomez from the media pool.

But perhaps the most unforgettable moment came not from the crowd, but from the widow.

A Widow’s Grace Amid National Grief
In a voice breaking under the weight of her loss, Erika Kirk took the stage and extended a grace few expected. Speaking directly to the alleged assassin — 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested shortly after the shooting — she offered not anger, but forgiveness.

“On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,’” Erika said, her voice trembling. “That man… I forgive him. It is what Christ did. It is what Charlie would do.”

The audience stood, many with tears streaming down their faces, for nearly a full minute of applause. Erika explained that her husband’s mission had always been to reach the “lost boys of the West” — disaffected young men consumed by resentment and anger. “He wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life,” she said.

An Unexpected Unity: Trump and Musk Reconcile Publicly
As if mirroring Erika’s call for healing, the memorial also witnessed a symbolic mending of political fences: Donald Trump and Elon Musk, once embroiled in a bitter feud over the July spending bill, were seen sitting side by side, sharing laughs and even shaking hands.

Their détente had been a hope of Charlie Kirk himself, who just weeks before his death had urged them to find common ground. “We want Elon Musk and Donald Trump to work collaboratively,” Kirk said during his final podcast. “It’s part of the Trump story — heated conflict, followed by reconciliation.”

Elsewhere in America: Another Shooting, Another “Free Palestine” Chant
While the nation grieved one violent loss, another unfolded in New Hampshire. During a wedding on Saturday night, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau reportedly shouted “Free Palestine” before opening fire, killing one man — identified as Robert Steven DeCesare — and injuring several others.

Witnesses said it appeared Nadeau was targeting someone specific. “He looked like he was going right for this person,” said one guest. Several attendees were also hospitalized for injuries sustained in the ensuing chaos.

The phrase “Free Palestine” — once a slogan for political protest — has increasingly been tied to acts of violence in the U.S., including the shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers earlier this year. Critics argue the phrase now signals support for the destruction of Israel, rather than a call for peace or coexistence.

Meanwhile, at the White House: A Visa Crackdown with a $100,000 Price Tag
As America reels from ideological division and rising violence, President Trump has doubled down on one of his core campaign themes: putting American workers first. On Friday, he signed a proclamation imposing a $100,000 fee on all H-1B visa applications — a 2,000% increase over current costs.

In doing so, he hopes to cut the abuse of the skilled visa program and curb what critics call “legal outsourcing.” Major tech firms like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft — which collectively laid off over 50,000 workers while securing tens of thousands of H-1B visas — are squarely in the administration’s crosshairs.

“If you’re going to train somebody, train one of the recent graduates from one of the great universities across our land,” said Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. “Stop bringing in people to take our jobs.”

Silicon Valley has voiced alarm, warning the policy could trigger a talent exodus. But Trump allies are betting that the backlash from Big Tech is worth the boost in battleground states — particularly with midterms looming.
