Hunter Biden delivered a blistering verbal attack against New York Post journalist Miranda Devine during an episode of the “Wide Awake Podcast,” criticizing her appearance, ethics and body of reporting related to his now-infamous laptop.
Devine has written extensively about the laptop for the New York Post and authored the book “Laptop from Hell.” During the podcast, Biden described Devine as “hideous inside and out” and suggested that few people would care when she dies.
“There’s no ethics in what someone as horrendously ugly as Miranda Devine, physically and in terms of her ethics, does … and that goes for Daily Mail … but they’re whores,” Biden said. “They’re whores for money and she does it because she makes money. And when she goes to sleep at night I’m sure she sleeps just fine, but I don’t know anybody that is going to be mourning her when she’s gone.”
Background on the Laptop Controversy
The New York Post first reported on material alleged to be from Hunter Biden’s laptop on Oct. 14, 2020. While Devine was not the bylined reporter on the initial article, she became one of its most prominent chroniclers in subsequent coverage and in her 2021 book.
Following the Post’s publication, Twitter restricted sharing of the article, preventing users from posting it publicly or privately. Days later, more than 50 former intelligence officials signed a letter suggesting the laptop story bore the hallmarks of a foreign influence operation, though they did not claim to have evidence confirming that theory.
The Daily Caller News Foundation later reported that it had obtained a copy of the laptop’s contents and had it authenticated by a cybersecurity expert.

The New York Post subsequently published emails it said were contained on the device, including one alleging that then–Vice President Joe Biden met with a Burisma executive alongside his son. Other published materials purported to show Hunter Biden’s drug use and encounters with prostitutes in multiple jurisdictions.
Devine has also reported on text messages between Hunter Biden and therapist Keith Ablow. According to her book, the pair joked in 2019 about Joe Biden potentially having dementia. Ablow reportedly wrote, “Any man who can triumph over dementia is a giant,” prompting Hunter Biden to respond, “You’re such an asshole but that made me laugh out loud.”

In March 2022—nearly two years after the initial reporting—The New York Times confirmed that emails from the laptop used in a federal investigation of Hunter Biden were authentic. The acknowledgment marked a significant shift in mainstream coverage and was widely cited as validation of the core elements of the original 2020 reporting.
Biden’s Escalating Public Posture
Hunter Biden’s remarks on the “Wide Awake Podcast” mark one of his most aggressive public critiques of Devine and other journalists who have focused on the laptop story.
