Mail-Order Abortions Rise This Year As Trump Approves Cheaper Pills

Abortion deaths are set to break another record this year, after President Donald Trump’s administration approved cheaper generic abortion pills and continues a Biden administration policy of shipping them through the mail to subvert state abortion bans.

“Abortions in the U.S. have increased this year under a remaining Biden policy that subverts the pro-life laws in 21 states. This week #WeCount issued a report showing a 40% increase in mail-order abortions from the first six months of 2024 to the first half of 2025,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.

“Biden’s mail-order abortion policy removed basic standards on mifepristone that were in place during the first Trump administration like in-person doctor visits. Since then, women have come forward after being poisoned by abusers. In Ohio, a medical resident has been criminally indicted for obtaining abortion drugs online by fraud and forcing them into his pregnant girlfriend’s mouth,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America adds.

Since returning to office Trump has not restored those medical protections, and has instead approved a cheaper, generic form of mifepristone.  These pills are now being mailed into states than ban abortion.  

Trump has denounced states that have adopted common sense measures such as banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat, saying they must “redo their laws” to allow more abortions.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued the following statement in response to the finding:

“The increase of abortions since the Dobbs decision shows how states’ ability to protect unborn children and their mothers is being completely undermined. For months, we’ve urged the administration to take basic steps to end Joe Biden’s COVID-era mail-order policy and reinstate the in-person doctor visits required during President Trump’s first term. Our call has been echoed by 22 attorneys general, 51 United States senators and 175 House representatives.

“Yet the agency tasked with prioritizing Americans’ health and safety has done the opposite – adding to the number of lives taken by abortion by approving a new generic abortion drug and slow-walking a promised study on the safety of mifepristone. Every day the administration delays commonsense action on abortion drugs, more unborn children die, more mothers end up in the ER, and more women and girls are poisoned or coerced into taking abortion drugs.”

“Peer-reviewed research found three quarters of ER visits within 30 days after abortion drug use were coded as severe or critical. Two separate, independent studies also found more than 1 in 10 women experience at least one severe adverse event. Complications can include hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis and even death,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America notes.

“A large national poll found 7 in 10 voters want to roll back Biden’s mail-order abortion drug rule and reinstate safeguards like in-person doctor visits,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America c concludes.
