U.S. intelligence officials say Russia has provided Iran with information that could help Tehran target American military assets, including ships and aircraft in the Middle East, according to multiple reports citing officials familiar with the intelligence.
The information reportedly includes location data on U.S. warships, aircraft, and other military assets that could potentially guide missile or drone strikes against American forces in the region.

Officials cautioned that U.S. intelligence has not found evidence that Russia is directly directing Iranian attacks or instructing Tehran how to use the information. However, the data itself could still assist Iranian targeting decisions.
The intelligence-sharing marks the first indication that Moscow may be becoming involved in the conflict that erupted after the United States and Israel launched major strikes on Iran roughly one week ago.
Iran has responded with waves of drone and missile attacks targeting U.S. and allied positions across the region. Analysts say access to Russian surveillance or intelligence could improve Tehran’s ability to locate American military infrastructure.

Despite the reports, the White House said the assistance has not affected U.S. military operations and described the campaign against Iran as continuing successfully.
The Kremlin has denied taking part in the conflict. Russian officials say Moscow maintains dialogue with Iran but insist they have not received requests for military assistance related to the war.
However, the allegations come amid deepening strategic cooperation between Russia and Iran, which has expanded significantly in recent years.
Iran has supplied Russia with drones and other military equipment used in the war in Ukraine, while the two countries have also expanded defense and technology collaboration.
The reports highlight how the conflict risks drawing in additional global powers. Analysts say Russia’s involvement — if confirmed — could complicate the regional war and increase tensions between Washington and Moscow.
