The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Rapper Kid Cudi has removed fellow artist M.I.A. from his “Rebel Ragers Tour” following a controversial onstage moment that drew backlash from fans and quickly spread across social media.

Viral Moment in Dallas

The incident occurred May 2 during a performance at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Texas, where M.I.A. was appearing as an opening act. During her set, she delivered a brief monologue touching on political themes, including comments about immigration and her own political identity.

Audience members responded with boos, and videos of the exchange circulated widely online, fueling debate and criticism. In one widely shared clip, M.I.A. addressed the crowd directly with remarks that some attendees and viewers interpreted as offensive, including that some of the audience members could be illegal immigrants, though the artist argues her statement was misconstrued.

“I wrote [‘ILLYGIRL’] (‘Illegal’) on the Maya LP, a song from 2010. I started this intro to the song with the statement saying I’m illygal, and I said my team hasn’t gotten visas yet, then played a song that had lyrics saying ‘[f*ck] the law,’ which I still believe, if the law is unjust [f*ck] it.” “Do not gaslight my words. That is the work of satan.”

Immediate Removal From Tour

Within days, Kid Cudi announced that M.I.A. would no longer be part of the tour lineup. In a social media update, he confirmed her removal and explained that he had previously communicated expectations to avoid controversial or offensive remarks during performances.

Cudi said he had received numerous messages from fans expressing frustration over the comments made during recent shows. He described the situation as disappointing and emphasized that he would not allow behavior that he believed alienated his audience.

Tour Continues With Revised Lineup

The “Rebel Ragers Tour,” which launched April 28 in Phoenix, will continue without M.I.A. Other performers—including rapper Big Boi—remain on the schedule as opening acts, alongside additional artists slated to appear at select dates.

Broader Reaction

The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the entertainment industry around artists expressing political views during performances. While some defend performers’ right to speak openly on stage, others argue that concerts should remain focused on music and avoid divisive commentary.

Some commentators also noted a double standard in how artists were treated based on their political leanings, alleging more leeway and acceptance of political insertions from left-wing artists.

For M.I.A., the episode adds to a history of provocative public statements that have drawn both support and criticism. For Kid Cudi, the decision underscores the balancing act artists face in managing live events, audience expectations, and the conduct of collaborators on tour.

    An American

If some person in the entertainment business has some political thing to say, say it on your own time. The 1st Amendment expresses that right.
But when it is done on ‘company time’ ( when at work on stage, etc. ), your employer has a right to ‘can’ you. You are causing the ‘bosses’ income to be diminished by your actions.
When paid to sing … SING, and without a biased provocation in your music.
You are a singer, not a politician! We do NOT want to hear your point of view on your politics.
Why should we care what you think?
We want to hear MUSIC! That’s what the people who came there paid for!

    An American

And I should add … if you have the need to use foul language, do it somewhere where no one can hear you.
Such language only shows your total lack of decency, morality, and integrity!
If you don’t know the correct words to use to get your thoughts across, it shows your ignorance and stupidity!
Who should ever care what such an asinine person thinks anyway?
