The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched a first-of-its-kind veterans and military families community center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Republican elected officials and candidates from across Virginia who spoke at the Center’s launch event on Thursday included Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) Chairman Rich Anderson, VA–02 Republican nominee Jen Kiggans and VA–10 Republican nominee Hung Cao.
The event was attended by approximately 85 individuals, many of whom expressed eagerness to stay involved with the RNC’s grassroots efforts and work to elect Republicans with military experience to office this November.
According to the RNC, “this is the first community center in Virginia and the 36th outreach center nationwide. The Republican Party is committed to meeting voters in their communities and continuing to build out our permanent, data-driven ground game. While Joe Biden and Democrats’ failures are making life harder for Virginians, the GOP is on the ground working to win every vote.”
Cao’s campaign took to Twitter after the event to share the candidate’s commitment to fighting for veterans like himself if elected to Congress later this year.
Moving forward, the center will serve as a location for veterans and military families to engage with Republican candidates and campaigns throughout the Hampton Roads area.
With the opening of a Hispanic engagement center on Friday in Arizona, the GOP now has 37 physical locations open, targeted at connecting with communities of swing voters.
The Arizona Sun Times reported that GOP Senate nominee Blake Masters shared on Friday “how important it is for Republicans to connect with Hispanic people, especially when many are considering voting Republican.
“I think it’s crucial. You know, you see national and local headlines about ‘Oh, how Hispanic voters are moving Right and breaking conservative’ and all this, and that’s great. We want to be welcoming. Although, I take nothing and no vote for granted,” Masters said. “I know Hispanics, like most voting groups, are very, very concerned with what’s going on in our country right now.”
Masters went on to say there are several areas of concern for Hispanic voters that he hoped to cover, such as the record double-digit inflation caused by President Joe Biden and reinforced by Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), concerns involving “unchecked illegal immigration,” and the want for border security, and to ensure that the school system works.”
Additional groups that the RNC is focused on engaging with ahead of the midterms include Native Americans, Black Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, as well as the Jewish community.
Aside from Virginia and Arizona, targeted engagement centers have also been launched in California, Ohio, Texas, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Connecticut, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
