A member of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s congressional staff survived a brutal attack in Washington, D.C.
At 5:30 p.m. local time Saturday on one of the busiest streets in Washington.
Sen. Paul revealed the news when he issued a brief statement Monday night.
“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions.”
The victim, who serves Sen. Paul on the Homeland Security Committee, endured multiple stab wounds.
Federal Bureau of Prisons records show the alleged assailant, an ex-convict named Glenn Neal, completed a 12-year sentence the day before for forcing two women to engage in prostitution under threat of force.
Todd arrived at a nearby hospital in a life-threatening condition. Authorities have since charged Neal with Assault with Intent to Kill (Knife).
The Hill further notes:
“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested,” Paul added. “At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.”
