With allegations of corruption growing against President Joe Biden, as well as questions about the political bias of the Justice Department, calls are mounting in Congress to appoint a special counsel to investigate the swirling scandal.
U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Mike Braun (R-IN) issued a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland calling on him “to appoint a special counsel to investigate any wrongdoing by President Biden and his family in their business dealings,” a statement from Blackburn’s office announced.
The senators pointed out that while the Biden administration has eagerly turned federal agents on President Biden’s perceived political opponents, there has been no apparent action on credible allegations of corruption against Biden himself.
“Under your watch, the Department of Justice has been weaponized to target President Biden’s top political opponent in advance of the 2024 election. Meanwhile, your DOJ has blatantly ignored the credible allegations of President Biden’s and his family’s corruption,” the senators wrote.
The letter called out, in writing, the apparent political bias of Garland’s Justice Department.
“In light of the unprecedented indictment of former President Trump last week, we write
today to express deep concern about the two-tiered system of justice that has been carried out under your watch,” they wrote.
“This administration has targeted pro-life individuals and people of faith for politically motivated prosecutions and has slandered parents concerned about their children’s education as ‘domestic terrorists.’ Your Department of Justice (DOJ) has refused to enforce federal law to protect Supreme Court justices who have been subjected to constant protests outside of their homes,” they pointed out.
The senators then laid out just some of the credible allegations against Biden.
“Recent reports indicate that Burisma—a Ukrainian natural gas firm where Hunter Biden sat on the board—allegedly paid then-Vice President Biden $5 million to influence United States policy decisions—conduct that would clearly constitute bribery,” the senators wrote.
“To make matters worse, the FBI has stonewalled congressional oversight of this matter, refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee. Additionally, both Joe and Hunter Biden pursued numerous business deals that were allegedly arranged by individuals with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),” they added.
The senators then called on Garland to appoint a special counsel, who would operate independently from the Justice Department.
“Given these concerning allegations that continue to come to light with each passing day, we urge you to appoint a special counsel to investigate any wrongdoing by President Biden and his family in their business dealings. Only then—with the appointment of a neutral and independent special counsel with broad authority to investigate these credible claims of the Biden family’s corruption—can the American people be assured that there is truly one set of laws in this country and that they apply to everyone equally, regardless of their viewpoint or political affiliation,” the senators concluded.

Senators Blackburn, Vance and Braun are putting on a show for their constituents by asking AG Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate any wrongdoing by President Biden and his family in their business dealings, that’s like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Our government has become a complete circus for the whole world ti laugh at.

IMHO, any special prosecutor appointed by Merrick Garland would be as big a political activist and Biden coconspirator as he is.
Congress needs to appoint the Special Counsel to investigate the Biden Bribery Scandal, not Merrick Garland. It was Garland who appointed the extremely biased Jack Smith to investigate Trump. Garland can’t be trusted.
Good except that whoever is appointed will not be very willing to be fair minded and just like Schiff, Biden will skate & then not be able to be tried for the same crimes again. They should have filed charges against him for treason which is really the crime he committed.

Even if a special counsel were appointed tomorrow, how long do you think it would be before ANY findings were announced? Slow Joe would be dead or in an Alzheimer’s ward by then!
Do we really expect Garland to appoint a special counsel that will not be a democratic jury. It will never happen until the Republicans are in control. The dems will lie and cheat and do whatever it takes to make sure that Biden et al are protected.
