The national board of the Screen Actors Guild voted Thursday to strike after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The board voted unanimously in favor of a strike against studios and streaming services.
SAG represents 160,000 actors who will join Hollywood screenwriters on strike since May.
The strike, set to begin at midnight, marks the first time in 63 years that actors and screenwriters have gone on strike simultaneously, effectively shuttering Hollywood.

The vote came after negotiations between the actors’ union and the major studios failed to reach an agreement on a new film and TV contract.
Actors — similarly to screenwriters already on picket lines — have been battling studios for a pact that would deliver far better pay and residuals from streaming and address other issues, including the use of artificial intelligence, that have been roiling the entertainment landscape.
Despite the last-minute involvement of a federal mediator, the 160,000-member union was unable to secure a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents studios in labor dealings. The old collective bargaining agreement expired Wednesday night without a deal in place.
Union leaders announced the board’s vote at a noon press conference in Los Angeles.

They are just actors, there is nothing real about them, I personally have stopped watching films all an act, the actors think they are someone who people should look up to they need to get real.
If the Entertainment Industry actually put out anything entertaining, I’d be upset.
But the fact that I’m sitting here and shrugging my shoulders after reading about a bunch of clueless wokesters going on strike pretty much says it all.
We attend perhaps one movie every 15 years, We prefer old movies at home. So much for Follywood.
